The Oasis Southwest Grill — Restaurant in Kuttawa

I'll update my experience, because apparently this restaurant is in hot water among the community. I'll preface this, as this experience is over a year old at this point.

I am not one to often leave bad reviews even if the experience is bad, because the experience can vary from person to person, and I am often critical of eateries due to having worked in the food industry for quite some time.

Personally I have never truly been a fan of The Oasis. The style isn't quite to my fancy. However when the pickings are slim sometimes beggars can't be choosers. This particular day I ordered some shrimp, Cole slaw, and some other side of which I can not remember. The shrimp? Fairly good. Not overcooked which is a plus. The Cole slaw? Well it was quite possibly the most disgusting Cole slaw I've ever tasted. It had the flavor of being frozen, actually it was still partially frozen, but tasted like it was stored in an open container and tossed in the freezer. The server was kind enough to replace it, but I opted for a different side since my taste for cole slaw was ruined. I chose some broccoli and cheese. Welp, guess what? The broccoli was raw. Dining experience? Ruined. I have not been back since. And it is now a joke to offer to eat here among myself and my wife.

This place has been going downhill in a flat spin for many years. Really it's not a result of the staff. They try. It's the leadership. They care little beyond collecting a check and doing drugs in the coolers.

Do I recommend this place? No. There are better options between Lyon County and Marshall. Want a similar meal? Go down 93 to Eddycreek and try...

As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the sweetest most adorable hostesses! The establishment is extremely clean and well laid out. You can eat at the bar, booths, or outside. We were promptly seated and greeted by another amazingly sweet waitress. She was top notch in service. Apologized for someone baking the rolls before they were proofed, however they were still amazingly tasty 😋. Started off with the 10 count buffalo bone in wings. They were delicious though I do prefer my wings harder fried but again, tasted so good. Ordered the 12 ounce ribeye that came with a salad and one side. She informed us we could have two sides instead of the salad so we got a baked potato that came with butter, sour cream, bacon, and chives. And something called potato wedges which are not fries. They are thick slices of potato with caramelized onions, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and cheese. Service was top notch throughout the entire meal. One server or manager saw us trying to open the blinds but they were a set that wouldn't open because they were broken and immediately told management who came and apologized and fixed it. Food is reasonably priced. Steak was so good and juicy it didn't even need steak sauce and I'm a sauce girl! Only complaint was that it did have a pretty big fat cap and gristle on it. On July 30th I walked into Oasis in Kuttawa, I stood at the front counter for approx. 5 minutes before I ever saw an employee due to them all being outside smoking at the same time. When the host asked us how many I told him 10 and he said "hang on, i'll be back" he goes back outside, comes back in and says we will be seating you all at 2 tables. I asked him why because the place was dead. I then asked him to pull 2 tables together. He has to go back outside, I guess to ask. He then comes in and tells us to follow him. After being seated, our waitress comes up and looks like she is so intoxicated that she doesn't even know where she is. We order drinks and apps. After 20 minutes she finally brings us drinks, 20 minutes later our apps arrive. Cold, burnt and the butter for the rolls tasted disgusting! We tell her but she acts like she doesn't care. She then brings out 1 of the apps that they are supposedly remaking due to it being burnt and this one is just as burnt! I then get up and ask for the manager. The manager was a young girl that also acted like she could care less! Food arrived 1 hour after ordering, cold, over cooked and tasted DISGUSTING! Again the manager couldn't care less.
