TLDR: If you’re in the area (La Grange) and you want some serious comfort food for a fair price, this is it. GREAT STAFF: On 12/18 we went with a large group from our car club. Our server (Gail?) was awesome, start to finish. Quick on her feet and super attentive at all times. We ended up having more people than they expected. Gail and a fellow staffer figured out another side table party was cashing out, they expedited everything, bussed the table quickly, and added it to the big-top so the group could all sit together. This rarely happens on our monthly restaurant get togethers at other venues. We’re always separated, and the staff at other places is apathetic. PRICES here at Jay Deez were super reasonable. Like how Austin food prices were pre-2010 “mass migration of transplants.” FOOD! I was starving, so my food review may be biased. The All American Breakfast was perfect. Nothing excessive or lacking. I tried the jalapeño shrimp appetizer a friend was having and it was delicious. Ditto on the onion rings. If you need salsa, ASK for it! Their in house tomatillo is fantastic. Most places can’t do good tomatillo. Many Texas restaurants can’t even offer good salsa of any kind. Well done! ❤️ Zero complaints overall. Restrooms were clean, too the day we were there. BTW: our car club leaders came here a week or two ago to scout the restaurant and they had the same good things to say, if that helps validate this experience. ✌️ Cheers! (We’ll be back) 🍻

Perfect Pit Stop Between Austin and Houston! 🚗🍔🍽️ Jay Deez’s Sports Grill is a hidden gem perfectly situated on Hwy 71, making it an ideal midway stop whether you’re headed to Austin or Houston. Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this spot is a welcoming place to refuel and relax with family or friends. During my visit, I tried their signature hamburger steak—and now I see why it’s a crowd favorite. The savory gravy was packed with rich, mouthwatering flavor, perfectly complementing the hearty hamburger steak. I paired it with mashed potatoes 🥔 and their standout Brussel sprouts 🥦, which were elevated by a sweet chili glaze 🌶️ that took them to a whole new level. Honestly, the brussel sprouts alone are worth the stop! The restaurant offers generous, versatile seating to fit any mood or group size. One side features comfortable dining 🍽️, while the other boasts a spacious bar area 🍻, pool tables 🎱, and plenty of TVs 📺, creating a fun, lively atmosphere for sports fans. And don’t miss the party-lit patio 🎉, perfect for enjoying a Texas evening 🌅. Their signature wings 🍗 are also highly recommended by locals, and I’ll definitely be trying those on my next visit! If you’re traveling through or simply looking for a great dining experience that offers something for everyone, Jay Deez’s Sports Grill is the place to go.

I have to rate it 5 stars for a few reasons: the food is outstanding, the manager/owner DOES follow up, and the service is reliably good.

I've been here several times since they opened and find that their prices are a bit higher than other fares in the area. On my most recent outing (a party of 7), i ordered the prime-rib to which the waitress came back and explained they were out of prime rib. fine, i'll order the chicken fried chicken. Food was outstanding, service was good, and overall the party was pleased with the choice to come to JayDeez. One point i'll make: parties of 6+ are charged 18% gratuity by default. I know this is common and I understand why.. but some of us do tip and often tip very well. However, my opinion is that if you're going to force me to pay 15, 18, or whatever percent gratuity, then i refuse to tip any more (my usual tip starts at 20% and often has gone upwards of 30%). Regardless, i understand that i'm probably an exception.

fast forward 2 days and i happened to look at my receipt and find i've been charged both the PR and the CFC. So, i call the restaurant back and leave a message. This was around the end of year holiday period, but a few days later the manager/owner calls me back and discusses my situation. He refunded the PR plus to cover for the extra tip and such that impacted me.

I wasn't looking for a free meal or any other 'compensation' and I felt this made the situation as it should have been.

Overall, i love the restaurant, food is outstanding, and the service has always been solid. I appreciate that the manager followed up and made the situation right and I will continue to patronize the restaurant. it is arguably the...
