Olive San Diego — Restaurant in La Mesa

We hired Olive for our Oct wedding in Berkeley and we’re still obsessed with them! I emailed a few caterers and Elinor was the first to respond and with an offer to chat on the phone to hear more about my vision. I was very particular about what I wanted and I requested lots of things that were not on Olives’s normal menu. Elinor looked through my list and a week later, came up with an incredible menu that incorporated the specific tastes and ingredients that I wanted. She said although they were not their specialties, they would find recipes and experiment and perfect them for our special day! How many other caterers would offer to do that?! We booked them without tasting them. We did eventually go to a tasting and WOW. We were impressed with Arkadi and his team. The food was beyond delicious. We were so happy with what we ate and with the Olive team and so excited that we found a gem of a caterer!

On the day of, everything was perfect. They did all of the setup and it was fabulous. Our guests raved about the food and we received so many compliments about the taste, variety and abundance of food! Our guests with dietary restrictions were so happy to have a large selection to choose from. Elinor came to see me in the dressing room and brought me food and then Arkadi made us plates and brought them to us at the sweetheart table. Those kind moments made our wedding even more special and cemented Olive a special place in our hearts.

Elinor is the warmest and sweetest person you’ll ever meet. She was not pushy, was very patient, understanding and flexible. Throughout the process, I asked a ton of questions, to which she patiently responded to in equal detail. Arkadi was warm, personable, and engaging in conversation. The moment we had our tasting with the Olive SF team, we knew we had to have them at our wedding! We requested a buffet-style meal for around 110 guests (including a few children). Everyone was VERY happy with what they ate! The mezze station was extremely fresh and filling. One guest had been to 3 weddings in the past 2 weeks and said it was the "best wedding food EVER".

As the bride and groom, we were nervous we wouldn't have time to eat, but Elinor and her team made sure we had plenty of appetizers to munch on during our time alone after the ceremony. By the time dinner was served, we were so full! It was a very good problem to have :)

The team also really knew what they were doing at our venue (the Brazilian Room) since they are a preferred vendor. Their wait staff was so amazing, no one was ever left asking where they were. The bartenders also saved us from a big problem...we ran out of alcohol. They quickly let our coordinators know their recommendations, so they could run out and get more. The guests never knew!

Overall, a fabulous husband-wife duo, amazing staff, and delicious mediterranean food! Will be booking them any other...

Olive did a fabulous job for our son's bar mitzvah party. They worked with our son to identify foods that he would enjoy, including mini grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup appetizers. These were a hit! The food was fabulous, beautifully presented, and we received many compliments on the excellent meal. The staff was warm and friendly, and they worked together seamlessly to ensure everything came off without a hitch. We had an unexpected heavy rain storm for an outdoor Saturday night party, and they arranged for the perfect tent at the last minute. The tent, lights and tables looked lovely and it all worked out.
