Recently, I wanted to try a new restaurant in the area, so I read up on reviews in places in Valpo, Chesterton, Michigan City, and Laporte. Cafe Trilogy caught my eye. So I decided to try it. They close at 2 p.m. typically. I arrived just before 1:30. I felt a little bad about being the last customer of the day, but they did not make me feel at all unwelcome.
Looking at the menu, there were a number of things that I wanted to try, so I did. Deviled egg combo platter. Biscuits and gravy. AND the Croque Madame sandwich. I did tell the server that it was just for sampling and that I wouldn't eat everything. She laughed and said she didn't mind at all, telling me that I might be tempted to eat everything because it was so good.
Deviled egg combo: traditional, pesto parmesan, and 'loaded'. They were all delicious. I ate one of each and save the other 3 for later.
B and G: I'm very picky about my B and G. I like hearty biscuits and thick, thick gravy loaded with sausage. These biscuits were light and airy. The gravy was much thinner than I prefer, with not enough sausage to meet my palate. I also chose to add a lot of black pepper, because that's what I do. I had a few bites of that before setting it aside.
THEN, the moment of moments. A beautiful croque madame sandwich (basically a very fancy grilled cheese, with piles of shaved ham, a fried egg, and bechamel sauce, in addition to the cheese). The bread was hearty and held up to the gooey deliciousness of the messy eggs and cheese and bechamel. I ate the entire sandwich. It came with a lovely side salad. I ate that, too, to be healthy.
Before leaving, I ordered two slices of flourless chocolate cake to go. Their pastry selection was amazing.
The space is very attractive...not at all what I expected as I pulled into the parking lot of pole barn buildings. But it was cheery, bright, and well decorated. And, the bathroom was spotless. I don't think I have included bathrooms ever in my reviews, but this one was so nice, I couldn't resist. Check it out.
In fact, check out the whole place. Try all the different dishes. I'm sure that they...
Read moreI decided to try this little restaurant because I always saw it sitting there quietly on the south side of LaPorte. Inside you find a cozy atmosphere with a couple of tables. It's not overcrowded. Hostess was polite and courteous. Promptly addressed me when I came to the front counter. The establishment was clean, bright, and cheerful. Music playing over the intercom was an 1980's playlist. Not too loud or distracting. My food arrived shortly after ordering. My meal consisted of seasoned potatoes with a creamy egg dish with fresh spinach and ham. It looked delicious! The garlic sauce with the scrambled eggs came together just perfectly! The flavor left me speechless! If you're looking for a place to unwind and relax while having a wonderful breakfast or lunch, this...

My breakfast sandwich cost $14 when I expected it to be like $7 but whatever support small business itâll be good right? Take a bite and it had jam on it⌠I hate sweet meat and by ordering a breakfast sandwich the last thing I expected was jam. - it should be in the name. I couldnât even just take off the bread the jam was on because it was on both pieces and had melted into every. It was supposed to come with hash browns but they were home fries which I also donât like.
Got a made in house cannoli - the shell was so soggy it was flexible
Got a slice of cake - sugar was the only flavor
I want my $40 back right tf now McDonaldâs would have been better.
Ended up throwing my...
