Jem's Cafe La Salle — Restaurant in La Salle

My husband and I often go to Jems for breakfast and always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was always great. The past few times we have gone we noticed a change in the atmosphere and the food quality is going downhill . They lost their best waitress, I wish I new her name, she was fabulous. We went to breakfast today and the waitress was terrible, she made an excuse that it was really busy. I noticed it wasn't as busy as it usually is, there used to be a wait just to get a table on Saturday mornings. Matter of fact, it hasn't been as busy as it used to be. My husband had huevos Ranchos, the beans were cold, toast came much later. I ordered eggs over medium, they were over easy. Bacon was not crisp and very greasy. We love this place but if they don't step up their game they may lose us as regular customers, which is sad. Even their homemade strawberry jam was very bland, it never used to be. So I have ate here a few times and can say it's usually on point but this last time it was not the breakfast burrito was big but filled with steamed potatoes and what little steak was in it ....was just not appealing and the waitress trying to rush us out with out asking if we need or want anything else I waited for a deferent server to get her attention and asked her for 2 slice of pecan pie which I high recommend even though it's 5.oo a slice over all I'd recommend them but the kitchen and front staff better pick it back up to top tier AAA SERVICE , SO there's not reviews like this....give them a try and follow up with a review I hope this reaches someone there and it...

Love this restaurant! I have been going to Jems for almost 10 years now and the food is still amazing! I miss some of the old servers BUT the new staff have overcome the struggles and are doing great. The servers/hostess are always so kind and attentive. I will say I have a favorite but unfortunately I cannot recall her name. She is newer to the team but she tends tables on the right towards the back as you walk in. We always ask for her! She always remembers what my spouse and I like to drink and eat and always keeps a smile even when they are busy! She has some amazing tattoos and is a bit shorter always with a lovely hairstyle.
