Earl's Cajun Market — Restaurant in Lafayette

Earl's is 1/2 mile from my home. I have shopped there since 1987 when Mr. Earl owned the store. The new owners have greatly improved the store with a full service meat market with custom cuts available. Daily lunches are good in a pinch - a little too carb heavy for my taste but carbs are a plate lunch staple. Many of the staff have been there for years. Personable, engaging, always helpful. The Butchers are amazing. They have custom cut meat for me, they have kept beef bones so I could make Demi Glace. The Spinach and Artichoke stuffed chicken is the best. Some of their other stuffed chickens have to much rice. I keep the stuffed baked potatoes in the freezer for a quick side or lunch for myself. I have always loved Earl's boudin. Just the right ratio of meat to rice and just the right amount of spice. We recommended Earl's Boudin to friends and family. We brought 5 lb. boxes to friends and family in Texas. Two weeks ago we picked up a three links for an easy lunch. SHOCK!!! The worst Boudin I have ever eaten!!!! Too much rice, very little meat, mush texture and no seasoning. Not even enough salt. What have you done? I am so disappointed!

I see all of the great reviews...but maybe I came at the wrong time...or on the wrong day (10am...Sunday). Everyone looked at me as if I was lost...or in the wrong place. Maybe I was the wrong color 🤷🏾‍♀️. BBQ not ready...even though it was all laid out...so is it actually BBQ’d...or baked with BBQ sauce? Boudin had absolutely no salt..spicy...but tastes like it’s been in water all morning and the flavor dissipated. Okay...but not great. There’s too many other great places in Lafayette to settle. Also, I’m used to warm greetings and exceptional food. No matter where I go. I can spend $50 a plate in River Ranch...or $2 at McDonald’s. No...

I live in Atlanta and I don't eat pork so I'm always jealous when I visit family cause the food looks good but I can't have most of it. I googled fresh chicken sausage and this was the place with the best ratings not the closest but the ratings are what caught my attention. So I get two kabobs and 2lbs of jalapeño and regular chicken sausage. The customer service was great, they greet you at the door, at the meat department, and will answer all questions.
