Hot Food Express — Restaurant in Lafayette

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Before visting this place I called to place an order prior to arriving. A small order for 2 ppl to be specific. Typical plates that are on the menu. Nothing extra particular. The person who answered the phone said it would be 15 min. I arrived about 15 min later. I approached the front counter. Paid for my order and was told to wait. My order wasn't complete. 15 more min passed by and approximately 10-15 more guest arrived and picked up their orders. I again approached the counter and asked about my order and told it still wasn't ready. At this point I sat at the booth again and waited. 15 min passed and I was considerably frustrated. I approached the counter again only for the cashier to walk away. She hurried back with my order. I was completely upset, but paid and drove home. After arriving home I began to try and enjoy the food I waited almost 1 hour for. 45 min to be exact. After taking a few bites of what I found to be delicious food I bit down on to something very tough and rubbery. I began to remove what was a RUBBER BAND OUT OF MY MOUTH! Completely in disbelief. I couldn't finish this meal. I just want the public to know this is completely unacceptable. Please be very cautious when ordering these signature plates. Regardless of the cuisine this could have potentially caused me serious harm.The RUBBER BAND WAS THE SAME COLOR AS MY RICE! Very scary. Attached is a photo of my plate....

Have to edit my review. Came in today to get the Zee Special with no shrimp in my fried rice and they said they can’t do it, they only have shrimp fried rice. So I guess the fried rice must be pre made and not made to order. Well guess I won’t be back if they can’t simply make fried rice with no shrimp.

All I have to say is WOW. As long as I have lived in Lafayette since like 2006 I have never ate here. However I always knew about them and always heard how good they was. Since I don’t do seafood I always just pass on them. Well tonight I was craving Chinese food and being an OTR trucker and just getting home I decided call them up. I placed an order without any seafood or shrimp and they was very accommodating. I can’t believe I have missed out this long on this amazing food. I got the Zee special and the flavor is just out of this world. I tried the bang bang sauce I believe it was called it looks like yum yum sauce and does kind of taste like it however it does taste way better then yum yum sauce. This place is phenomenal… I will definitely be back now and keep coming back. Thank you for accommodating my special request for no shrimp in my fried rice. You now have a new life long customer and will definitely be recommending this place here on out to...

After a year since my first review of 5-stars, I have to recant. I visited the area since moving to Dallas last weekend & my husband & I were craving this restaurant. We went in around 9:30pm for our food and it was absolutely horrible. The plate presentation and quality of food looked nothing like it did when we lived in Lafayette. I know this for a fact because we were regulars. My shrimp in my KLFY Special was so undercooked that it was almost raw. Also, it seemed as though the meats were skimmed on both mine and my husband’s plate. They also garnished the dish with huge cuts of bell peppers , which was something I never witnessed before. The rice tasted almost burnt in my plate. Our fried rice was also missing egg in both plates. The price of our two plates also went up drastically. In the past, I remember us paying no more that about $23-24 for two plates. We paid over $30. This was one of our favorite restaurants & it is sad that it will be one of the last places that we visit when in town...
