Always a great experience at Marcello’s—elevated service, excellent food, and a fantastic atmosphere. Huge thanks to Zach for making our evening spectacular. You rock!
We started with a couple of cocktails—Rogers loves Jim Beam Black, and you know I love martinis—I had them adjust the simple syrup down, and my lemon basil martini was so excellent I had a couple. The bartender nailed it!
The fried mozzarella is our absolute favorite in town—the sauce on the bottom of that plate I could drink. Recommended starter!
Rogers got a small caesar salad, and I chose their roasted beet salad. The roasted beet salad is over-the-top delicious—recommended! Loved their complimentary bread with oil and balsamic dipping sauce.
I had every intention of getting their filet tonight, but their linguine tritone caught my eye—lobster, crab, and shrimp in a cream sauce over linguine—to die for. I regret getting the full portion because the half portion would have been plenty. At least I have a midnight snack. Ha. Rogers was a good boy and ordered a small portion of their fettuccine Alfredo—that’s why he’s skinnier than me. Our entrees were outstanding.
We were stuffed and did not feel like dessert. However, Zach had other plans and brought us a small portion of their Anna Tutta Panna—absolutely fantastic!
Marcello’s is a great experience. The dining room is beautiful and tastefully furnished. We love the tablet wine list that allows you to filter thru their extensive wines to find the perfect wine for dinner. When you dine there, not only do you have your server, but a whole staff making sure things are taken away, and water glasses are filled—touches like that set Marcello’s apart. It’s a great value for all it offers. Marcello’s makes for an excellent romantic/date...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Marcello's to celebrate my birthday. Because of my schedule we got there at 1:30 on a Friday. We ordered grilled trout with asparagus and mushroom sauce and shrimp scampi over linguine. First the good things: the server and the other employees we encountered were pleasant and efficient, without hovering, and the salad and the mushroom sauce with the trout were delicious, plus the place itself is very pleasant. Now, the rest. The trout was dry and almost tasteless and the asparagus was tough, stringy and generally repulsive. The shrimp scampi was six very tasty but dry and tough shrimp over a mound of linguine, with no detectable sauce. As scampi is the sauce the shrimp is cooked in, this is insulting. The bread had been sliced hours before and left sitting out until it got hard and stale. Also, even though their lunch is served until 2:00, we were not offered the lunch menu to order from, but the truncated bistro menu. Marcello's ,management and kitchen staff have the right to run their business they way the see fit. I have the right to make sure that every person I am currently acquainted with and every one I meet for the rest of my life hears about my recent and last time...
Read moreI am still relatively new to Lafayette and had heard many times that Marcello’s was the best Italian in town. After going there for the first time over the weekend, I really hope that is not the case. First, our service was excellent so my rating here has everything to do with the food. We started with two appetizers because I was starving and could make a decision; the calamari and the fried cheese. I enjoyed both, but the calamari will be my choice if I ever eat here again. For out entrees, I ordered the Lamb Ragu and my girlfriend had the Linguini Tritone. I was very underwhelmed by the lamb ragu, especially considering the $42 price. However, the linguini tritone was simply gross. I even had my girlfriend order the larger portion because I was certain I’d eat the leftovers the following day. Instead, she ate only 4-5 bites of it and I had a couple as well. It had a very strong “fishy” taste to it that you wouldn’t expect from the lobster, shrimp or crabmeat in the dish. Also, the cream sauce was very bland aside from the aforementioned fishiness. I do plan to give Marcello’s a second chance because several menu items appeal to me, but it won’t be...
