Well, after driving by this place every morning & not stopping because it was too early & didn't feel like waiting till 7AM - today I stopped around 6 mins til & it was already open which was great. After reading mixed reviews, I'm glad I did. Very cozy, QUIET, & relaxing place. Table set-up is good & bldg is situated so the sun is not directly coming in the windows and blinding you. Couple of trees in front for shade which is welcoming, I'm from back East where parking lots have trees for shade and seems like Colorado is against this. KB the host/server was courteous and attentive. There was an awkward moment where there was a misunderstanding & she charged me for a drink I had brought in, I brought it to her attention and she corrected it w/ no issues or bad attitude. The menu does seem a little pricey, but seems like good quality, I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was great, for about $5. It was a bit small but appropriate for the price & quality was good. I've paid $10 other places for sandwich of same size. Coffee was good & strong but not bitter or sitting around for a while. Free refills too. Overall breakfast experience was pleasant & dining room is small & was almost full but not excessively noisy or loud which was great for me, I like to have a relaxing breakfast. Nice patio area outside too. So, unless I find a better place, this looks like my breakfast spot, & I recommend it & would come back unless the word gets out & it gets too crowded. Kinda would like to keep it a secret!!! Giving it a 4.5 stars - just wish it would open maybe @ 6:30 AM & maybe have a little bigger breakfast sandwich & charge like $7-$8 for it - I know I'm being knit-picky, but overall good...
Read moreLunch 7/24/18: Tuna sandwich on croissant with side salad (included) and a med latte plus 20% tip - $20. The food is above average quality but the prices seem high to me. It is, after all a small "order at the counter" cafe.
Also, the blond waitress who took my order never cracked a smile or seemed even the slightest bit friendly towards me or the 3 customers she interacted with after me. She never visited my table to check on my food and, when I asked her to replace the side salad because it had olives, she took it, spun around without a word, and marched off. So much for tipping when you pay.
Previously, I have gone in for breakfast on the weekend, which I thought was not only higher quality food but more reasonable prices. In addition, the 2 young women who served us were friendly, attentive, and helpful. I had the breakfast burro and it was delicious and huge. I could only eat half of it. One note is that it tasted more Italian than Mexican. There was a noticeable oregano and fennel taste I found delicious. But, if you were expecting the usual chili powder, cilantro, and cumin flavors and/or you aren't fond of fennel, you may not like it.
I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, I love their food. On the other, the prices don't justify food that's just better than average.
One unintended consequence of the good food - high prices is that I have never found it busy or crowded. If they lowered their prices by 20%, I'd be a regular. But then, they'd probably have more biz than they...
Read moreOne of the best kept secrets of Lafayette. Just south of---and serving--Good Sanaritan Hospital and other medical offices--the cafe looks typical for a light-industrial location, but isn't. They make several of their own foods (sausage and strawberry preserves, of which I'm aware). It was the preserves that got my attention: they tasted like strawberries instead of a sweet, slight fruity jam.
My favorite dish: omelet with plenty of salmon.
The coffee is very good, excellent for refillable.
Ambience: quiet music, wood tables, solo seating, outdoor tables, some refrigerator and kitchen noise (unavoidable for the storage).
The internet connection which I'm currently using seems good (good enough to post reviews!)
The staff has never changed since I've been coming (2-3 years).
Definitely makes a hospital visit more pleasant. I come just as a destination stop, especially since it's not far off the Rock...
