The doughnuts taste like doughnuts which hit the spot, but I must caution the weary 2pm Sunday afternoon doughnut seeker to be on guard. Hit with warnings like "Closing soon!" and "Business may not be open by the time you get there." It's almost like Google Maps are in cahoots with Niguel Bakery and Doughnuts to put you in a frenzy and take you off your guard.

You JUST make it to the shop but you are still reeling from the bad directions with the app's ever growing voice navigation problems and you aren't at your negotiating best. Beware of the lady peddling the calorie bombs behind the counter at the unassuming empty store. She is sweet like their pastries and can talk about the weather with the best of them but don't be fooled! Under that kind demenor lies a sales demon that even the most ruthless Persian rug dealer going out of business would envy. Before you take out your debit card that their reader can scan from 7 yards away, count your doughnuts. She WILL try and sneak a few under the radar and into the box. Like a snake oil salesman in the wild west, she'll dazzle you with a colorful description of the 11 doughnuts left in the case and she talks fast. Very fast. You order 4 and you wind up with 7. while you're reeling at what just happened during your transaction, she's hit you with "the powder one is free." Ah, yes. But I didn't order 8. Some colorful math explainations and the free doughnut plucked, your card has been scanned, you have 7 doughnuts and you've just spent $11 more than you thought you would. You check your banking app to confirm and walk away the loser of an unwitting game of the doughnut shell game.

Heed my warning doughnut hunters. If the free doughnut sounds too good to be true, it just might be. Be very firm on what you want here as the sweet lady will take your order at a negotiating...

Typical mom and pop style donut shop. Definitely better than any chain. The nature of the raised met my standard. Soft, fluffy, slightly melts in your mouth with each bite. The maple on the bar was prominent but not overwhelmingly rich or sweet. Sweeter but in perfect contrast with the dough. The filling on the Boston cream was beautiful. Thick, creamy, flavorful, sweet but not overpowering. Definitely on the better end of custard donuts. The #4 bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Fresh, flavorful, buttery in the best way.
