HOW UNFORTUNATE that a new local sit down business is open in lake Alfred and we gave it a try. I can't rate the food because no one working could take initiative to sort things out and even come over. Very disappointed.
We arrived and the hostess sat us. 2 adults, 2 children, an infant carrier. We were seated in a corner booth and there were waitresses serving and tending to tables all around us.
My husband says it was closer to 20 and that I am being generous, but we did just sat for over 10 minutes. No one ever came over. 3 waitresses gathered at the hostess stand and looked at my husband and I in that corner booth. They talked and then all parted ways and no one came over. That's when the frustration set in for me.
We went out to celebrate last night. It was our first family outing since having a baby a few weeks ago AND my husbands work anniversary. Celebratory dinner was going to be on the boss. A treat! BUT no one ever came over to even offer water.
After watching the waitresses part ways we waited a couple of minutes and got up and left. Our toddlers left confused and upset because we had told them what we were going to eat.
It didn't ruin the night, but man what a HUGE disappointment. We were looking forward to something and to be let down like that? Ha. What a joke. I've seen the hype all online and I know the food is delicious because we frequent the original location. I had high hopes and say it's the post-pregnancy hormones. I was just trying to get out as a family, close to home, and have a good hot dinner. What a SHAME that the front of house let that slide. That's your reputation and your money they're playing with. I highly suggest a talk with staff to make sure that moving forward this situation doesn't become the normal, for your own success because our whole family left their disappointed.
My toddlers because they were confused they didn't get to eat there, myself because I would have never expected that experience at a NEW restaurant, let alone from Las Comadres, and my husband because he TRIED to get us all out to eat because its what I wanted.
I don't know that we will give it another try after that, it wasnt a pleasant experience....
Read moreEdit review …… The last 3 time we went here everything has changed twice for dinner once for lunch Salsa has completely changed from chunky to watery . Chips over cooked . All 3 waitresses completely avoid or request for chips because they are waiting for or food and hoping we don’t want them after . Food is still great . Also they don’t even try to accommodate for special orders we asked for the ingredients that is inside the quesadilla to be outside and the would not do it . I guess the first few trips they were trying to get customers . I hate this because I told everyone I knew about this place. Last thing on the second batch of chips it is literally always just sauce and nothing no chunks at all . These are the problems from multiple visits .
I don’t know how this compares as far as authentic Mexican restaurants go, but I do know the food here is top notch starting with the salsa and they very unique chips. They cut no corners . Our waiter I don’t remember his name, but he was a fairly big Mexican guy with curly hair and even though he had a ton of tables, he was super quick and getting everything done and friendly as can be. Then when we got our food man, it was so full of flavor and the portions were huge. We all had to take a box home. Well worth of money if you’re in town or close by and feeling like some Mexican food you gotta treat yourself to this place. Also last thing the aesthetics...
Read moreWe had lunch here today and it was absolutely amazing. 2 adults and a kid, and our bill was right at $50, which is less than we normally pay for just 2 of us. I had the enchiladas, my husband had the wet burrito, and kiddo had the kid's quesadilla. The wait for the food was a little longer than in a chain restaurant, but it was busy-ish so no biggie- and then our food arrived and any complaints about the wait were erased, Men In Black style. The plates were HUGE and the food was hot and you could tell by the first bite that everything is prepared fresh to order, with fresh ingredients. It was all so good. None of us finished more than half our food, so I'm very excited to have round 2 later. Also, girl math says that makes lunch for 3 $25, right? There were definitely cheaper options, and also more expensive ones. This place would be great for anything frim a quick bite to a nice dinner. The decor is so bright and cheerful, and the ambiance is relaxing, even for busy-ish lunch time. Our server was attentive and so sweet. Any of this would be enough to bring us back, but all of it will have us as frequent fliers. Another plus is it's location- if you don't live in Lake Alfred, it's just far enough away to feel like you went out for dinner, instead of just popping out for something. 5 stars is as many as we can give, but they...
