We've been coming to Cedar Glen Malt Shop for a very long time - it was one of the first places my husband introduced me to when we started dating. :) Guess what, regulars? They remodeled and it is EVEN BETTER!!! The booths are gorgeous, redone in classic cars (see photos) and the seating is more comfortable than the old tables and chairs. Could not be more impressed, and it really spruced up the place while still in-keeping with the 50's diner vibe. We ordered burgers, fish and chips, and malts, shakes, and freezes, and despite being busy with lots of other customers, were blown away with how quickly our food arrived. As always, there probably is not a better burger known to man! French fries, Frings (yes, you can mix french fries and onion rings here!) and onion rings were all perfectly cooked, and I loved the salad that came with my fish and chips. The double burgers are big enough to split, especially if you're getting ice cream or malts in addition to food, and their banana splits are HUGE!
If you are within a few hours drive, take the trek up the mountain to give it a shot. If you're a local, consider yourself lucky!
Parking can be a challenge but you can typically find parking on the street if the lot is full. There are some curvy roads if you're coming from the flatlands, so be prepared and take it slowly if you have someone who gets car-sick easily. There are plenty turnouts to stop and take a breather and get fresh mountain air. Give it a shot, I'm guessing there will be NO...
Read moreThis spot was recommended by a friend. It's a small diner with a 50's theme like the old Frisco's in the city of industry that has since been closed for some time now. The food was good. I ordered the Ortega burger a.k.a. "the Lowrider". Very tasty burger indeed. The fries were just fries. If there is room for improvement, it would be there. Fries are another big part of an eatery that people either remember as being great, or they're just dismissed altogether as "nothing special." The seating area is not very large. I would guess it can sit somewhere around 28 to 30 people, and that would include the counter, which accounts for about 6 of the seats. It was easy to find using Google maps. Just punch in Cedar Geln malt shop, and you're off and running! Parking is super limited in front. However, there is some parking along the street. I would definitely recommend this spot for a quick, hardy, and super tasty lunch. If you find yourself in the Arrowhead area, take a little time to go grab a burger! Now, because I don't indulge in sweets very often, I couldn't comment on the malts and other ice cream desserts. But in reading other reviews and noticing posted pictures, I'll bet they are amazing as well! ...
Read moreWell, I found this place by accident one day about 4 years ago. It doesn't look like much on the outside but, once you step through those doors it's whacky experience to say the least. They are going for an old school diner approach with everything decorating the walls to the food. They can make any kind of shake, malt, or sundae your heart can dream up. As for the food I would strongly recommend the "Nomad" burger for you adventurous types. It is a peanut butter bacon cheeseburger and it is truly out of this world. The staff is always friendly and they really aren't stingy with the food or the shakes. The portions are huge in fact you could fill up on a malt all by itself. I have kept coming here every month since the first time. It is an excellent place to bring the family if you're out for a drive or just visiting the area. The one and only downside is that the parking situation is very limited so try to get there before the busy times. I would say coming in around 11am or after 3pm is your best bet. So if you are looking for some fantastic foods and desserts this should definitely be one of the stops you make whether you are a local or from som...
