jdR Wine & beer — Restaurant in Lake Bluff

Spending the day in downtown Lake Bluff, we decided to stop I'm to check out JDR's wine selection. While we gandered around the shop, there was a man sitting at the front desk of the shop. He was playing on his phone, saying very little to us. The guy didn't even offer to help and continued to be engaged on his phone. After we selected a wine to take home, we approached the man to pay for the bottle of wine. He greeted us and stayed connected to his phone. While my wife was waiting for the credit card to process, he didn't engage with us, no talking or anything that would welcome us back. We left with little to know human connection with this place which is sad because we love the restaurant its attached and affiliated with. It's a nice little win3 and beer shop that we'd with had better customer interaction...

Really love this place. They have an amazing wine selection, which is beyond reasonable. I also love the move to the new space. My friend and I decided to go on Saturday night, and it did not disappoint. I only wish it had been warmer so we could have sat outside. The by the glass selection was fantastic and well thought out. We also had some of the snacks, and I have to say, get the whipped ricotta with the herb flatbread. You won’t regret it. I am so glad this opened because nice yet approachable wine bars are difficult to find, especially in the northern suburbs for some reason. Great insight and knowledge from Adam on the wine and spirits in their shop. Tasted some delicious wines to find some great bottles for our collection. Solid service and deals, especially when dealing with case quantities. They also offer tasting options to try certain bottles by the glass before committing to a full bottle purchase.
