The Otherdoor — Restaurant in Lake Bluff

For years I've been going to The Other Door; today was my last day ever going and even recommended it to people. I've been a loyal customer who gets the same thing every time. Rice, beans, sauce & cheese. Some years I got charged nothing out of pity & left the employees a fat tip. Since I moved and came back I've been consistently been charged $10 for RICE AND BEANS and I am done. The funny part is if I ordered it as rice & beans it would only be $5 but it's the principle. I even confronted a manager about it one time and he said "Oh, I'm sorry for charging you $10 for that. We'll charge you ONLY $7.50 for that from now on." He got fired since then but I'm still salty. Thanks for the years of good food, but today is the last day you guys will ever see me or any of my friends. I know I've thrown thousands of dollars at you for no reason over the past couple years; but I'm done. One star is for the amazing food. The other is for the staff that have a heart not ruled by money. Should have been 5 stars, but the years of abuse have gotten to me. Peace out Other Door, nice...

I was really excited to try this place as I’ve been looking for a good spot to get a burrito bowl close to where I live. However when I ordered my food I asked for extra rice as the scoop was the smallest scoop of rice I think I’ve ever been served then he proceeds to scoop a slightly smaller amount. Same happened with the beans chicken portion was half of what expect when u go to a good spot. When all said and done I got guac added and my total was like 16 dollars for a bowl that was half of what u would get a chipotle or qdoba it felt like a snack more than anything. All of this would have been acceptable (and I wouldn’t have even wrote the negative review) if the food was good.

My rice was dry and hard, my chicken lacked flavor and overall was just not very tender at all, the beans were as u expect beans to be and the toppings were mid tier at best.

Overall if your reading this just save your money and your time you’ll just be sad you spent that much on a meal that will not only barely satisfy your hunger but also be lacking in Flavor...

Updated my review based on immediate feedback from the owner. Don’t waste your time coming here, especially at lunch. I drove in from the city, and waited in line 30+ minutes to get lunch for my mom. The employees behind the counter had a conversation in front of me (I was in line this long), stating she would’ve a few minutes to get lettuce. The male employee said no problem, and he would watch/work the register. FINALLY it’s my turn to order and he simply says they have no lettuce... my mom doesn’t eat corn nor flour... he then adds on saying they’ve been out for awhile... interesting bc I just witnessed your conversation with your co-worker and at this point a few more minutes added on to 30+ won’t matter... he doesn’t budge.
