Listen, at this period of my life I would eat at a boiled shoe restaurant if my children will finish their meal that I pay for. My children LOVE the Canoe Club and I don’t even have to eat boiled shoe! All the adult food is amazing! I like to start with a cocktail expertly crafted by a bartender or a beer expertly opened by a bartender and the spinach artichoke dip. Then I will absolutely garbage mouth the crap out of either the Phish tacos, or the Mahi Melt or the Steak sando or the CC chicken or the Prime Rib, medium rare if I am feeling fancy. My kids get the grilled cheese, they say that it is the best in the city and they could be certified as expert witnesses in the field of grilled cheeses. You know what, I stole a bite of theirs once and I’ll be gosh danged if it isn’t the best. Texas toast and yellow cheese as god intended, nice crispy edges with a sumptuous melty center, it is a dang fine sandwich. Another thing about the Canoe club is the excellent service. The servers are always on top of things and the ownership is very obviously involved, I can’t remember a time I have been there that one or both of the owners have not come by my table to make sure everything was perfect! Heck, one time a very nice guy who is apparently the brother of the owner was there having dinner with his family and he told me the funniest joke about a one armed fisherman! My kids laughed so hard that Dr.Pepper shot out their noses! If there was one thing I could change about the Canoe Club is that I would have them add a teleportation portal to that mural on their patio so I could be...
Read moreStopped in by accident, meant to visit Captains next door. First impression, this place is not very big inside and loud. Asked to be seated in the back dining area (others back there) and was told no, that area is closed as the kitchen closes in 30 minutes. Had to dine with in the loud area, couldn't have a conversation with the wife across the table it was so loud. Our server Ryan was fantastic, explained specials and different menu items. Ordered the 12oz KC Strip (a little on the expensive side) and asked for well done. Cook has no clue what well done is, came med with pink in the middle. Had to go back, Ryan very apological but not his fault. Wife enjoyed her sandwich and fries. Service was exceptional and by far the best we have ever received dining out. The food was 'ok', no value for what you get really but the service is why we'll return. Ryan again was an...
Read moreGave our order to Ryan after we found him chatting at the bar. 40 min later and other patrons getting their food that showed up way after we did we still had no food. We asked if there was a problem with the 2 sandwiches we ordered and how much longer it would be. Do we need to go somewhere else if it’s gonna be much longer ? Ryan doesn’t attempt to apologize, explain or care about our order he simply says “ then go somewhere else “ didn’t even try to offer an explanation or apology. I/we have NEVER experienced such rudeness from a restaurant employee. We went across the street to Tipsy Taco and had a fabulous meal and were in and out in 20 min!!! Ryan your parents must own the place because no employer would keep an employee...
