Jalisco Town Mexican Restaurant
We chose this restaurant after reading the reviews, as their rating was higher than most in the area. So maybe we just came on a bad night. Although one would think Saturday night would be their prime time. There was nothing special about this restaurant. The service was mediocre at best. The ambiance was that of a small Mom and Pop pizza shop. Very similar although they serve Mexican food of course. The tables were sparse and the chairs not particularly comfortable. We sat on the freestanding chairs not the benches. The service was below par. The waitress was kind but rarely present, she was inattentive. The chips were very stale and not pleasant to eat. This also was okay but they only gave you a very small amount which ran out quickly. I ordered a frozen margarita and honestly I've never seen a margarita be orange / yellow and served with an orange before. But that's what I got and honestly it tasted like a slurpee. There might have been some alcohol in it. But it was 22 oz for $9. My friend got enchiladas and I got chicken fajitas. I also ordered guacamole and chips as an appetizer. That never came until the entrees themselves came all at the same time. The silverware was very cheap, low quality. The plates were nice and heavy. My fajita was good though the serving size was small for the price. And for some reason everything had an orange tint to it. Ironically it matched my margarita. While waiting for the entree I wanted to replace the chips and salsa that were stale, but the waitress never came back until the entrees were ready. Beyond trees came and they were hot and sizzling which is a good sign, it was then that we asked for more chips and salsa. She then brought out but they too were stale. My friend received her enchilada bowl of pork, but the waitress forgot to bring her tortillas. I received my tortillas in a foil wrapper, three small round ones that were cold. They weren't enough for me so I ordered more and these were at least warm. My friend also got her tortillas a few minutes after the entree was sit down on the table. No big deal but considering there was barely anybody in the restaurant at 8:00 at night it seemed like a lazy oversight. My fajitas were okay, definitely not what I would consider excellent or Mexican authentic but more like average at best. My friend reported the same about her enchiladas. When the meal was over the waitress just handed me an electronic pad to pay the bill with and I was surprised to see that a 15% tip was not available as a preset key. Instead the tip started at 20 and went to 30%. Anything less was a custom tip. I left 20% though in all honesty she really didn't deserve it. I'm not trying to be harsh I tip well when there is good service and the quality of the food is there. But the overall experience as well as the individual parts were below expectation and were subpar. Definitely did not live up to the expectations that we had and we went out of our way off the highway to this little restaurant. I'm sure it has potential but on the night that we went I have to say I was not impressed and the value proposition was definitely not there. Sorry, we had a bad experience which could have easily been remedied with a more attentive server and someone paying attention to the quality of the food being delivered. First impressions count, you deliver stale chips and a small bowl of salsa and everything went downhill from there. I'm sorry to say this is a not recommended from me. I'd like to see the small restaurant thrive and maybe this review will help them. Otherwise I wouldn't have taken my time...
Read moreThis is the second time I have been to this restaurant in a week and received horrible service. Last Tuesday I had dinner with my family. Once the server dropped off the food and got a couple things that we asked for, he never came back. I saw him behind the bar making drinks. Finally, after waiting for a very long time after our meal was finished, I had to stop another server to ask if we could order dessert and get boxes and the check.
I asked the server that I stopped if our original server was a bartender and let them know that he never came back once we got our food. I understand servers get busy, but I would’ve appreciated if he at least sent somebody to check on us or help us out.
Tonight, my friends and I planned on getting drinks and dinner. They were waiting for me at a table when I got there. I knew they were at the restaurant 30 minutes prior to me and they had no water cups at the table or anything else other than chips and salsa. They informed me that a server had not been over there to greet them in the 30 minutes they were sitting there. We sat there for about five more minutes and once a server still did not come, we decided to walk out and leave.
We went over to Cocina Maya across the street and had a great meal with immediate service.
It’s too bad the service is so poor at Jalisco Town because they make great food. However, with so many Mexican restaurant options, I will not...
Read moreIt was empty when we walked in and that's ok it was kinda early for the dinner rush but when we was looking at our Menus and the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink , the vibes was off completely. I don't know if they only expected spanish or white people to arrive but it was very unsettling . We were very nice to them and when I asked them about these so called specials they had the waiter didn't even know what I was talking about. Than said they can give us a cheap margarita like it was made up in that second . The hype online is not what it is. Food was okay but no deals and no drink deals for cinco de mayo. Than instead of asking us were we ready to order the waiter went and sat at another booth to do i don't know what. RUDEEEE!!! importantly the waiters and bus ppl did not want to grab our dirty dishes they was acting as if we had covid. I will never come back to this place. It seems to me they felt lake Mary is where all the white ppl are. Sorry that we disappointed you. Smh It's very unsettling that spanish people act this way. They didn't even know that some of us is from spanish decent but if we wasn't does that matter. How do people that are not from America get judgemental that is insane to me. Literally you can cut the tension with a knife at this place. Yall truly...
