Gordillas — Restaurant in Lake Township

UPDATE: I've gone back to eat the gorditas and they were very good! I really love the picadillo, no need for salsa as the heat level is just right for me!

My review, I give it a 2.5/5. Very friendly staff, answered all of my questions, clean location, all the fillings looked great! Place is nicely done in terms of decorations and layout.

We ordered two gorditas - picadillo verde and papas bravas rojas with rice and beans,1 gordita de picadillo non-spicy, 2 quesadillas with rice and beans.

Positive: both the fillings I ordered were spicy as promised, the papas bravas are VERY spicy, just what I wanted and the spicy picadillo was delicious! Totally enjoyed them without any salsa as none was needed. The gorditas themselves were a tad bit dry but overall well done. The rice lacked flavor and color but the beans made up for it.

Negative: this was really bad and yes y'all may say that I'm a bit biased because of how much I love cheese and because well you know....V&V Supremo Chihuahua is thee best and I can tell when cheese is fresh, pero anyway the cheese on the quesadillas, gorditas and on top of the beans WAS OLD. IYKYK but old cheese🧀 smells like an athlete's foot 🦶after a game...it smelled so bad🤢 we threw out the quesadillas we ordered for the kids😔. Thankfully, there wasn't too much cheese on the gorditas themselves or the beans, I was able to scrape it off.

Verdict: I would totally come back to dine in, we took this to go so we didn't get to smell the food beforehand. I'm willing to give them another try and try other fillings. I'll stick to Machete for our quesadillas until I know the cheese situation here is fixed... next time, I'll come for gorditas only and ask them to HOLD THE...

The place itself is nicely done. The workers were professional at the start…. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. The food was tasteless! The price for a salad bowl was outrageous for the “barely there” amount of meat. I had to bring my bowl back up and ask for more. Meanwhile they tried saying “it is at the bottom”. I moved all the toppings out of the way to show them the roughly 1 tablespoon amount of chicharron verde and the employees all started giggling! Their salsas are WAY TOO watery.

I was really hoping this place would be great but I don’t foresee it lasting long unfortunately unless things change!

no one should ever pay $15.49 for a salad bowl let alone with a single tablespoon of protein!

Handle complaints...

I'm not going to say everything was 100% amazing. The rice was ever so slightly dry but you could tell. nothing I'm going to complain about. I work as a waitress so I understand it may not be the same everytime. still pretty good. the beans could use a bit more flavor, maybe lacking with some salt? still not an issue as I'm not a big deal but you can tell it was fresh fresh. my husband thought the same of the the rice and beans.

I got the dried pepper with cheese burrito. Absolutely delicious. I ate it pretty quickly. For my Gordita, I had the pepper and cheese. Very very very good. I definitely won't let the little downsides stop me from...
