Magoos Bar — Restaurant in Stickney Township

I celebrated my bday party there and reserved a private party. When I got there there were people there that weren’t part of my party when I went to speak to a manager no one was there. There was someone who worked there that was off the clock and called the owner to see what happened. They came back and said that the other gathering has been informed to move to the other side of the bar. They probably took about 15 minutes after that to leave not to mention they left their food and drinks there and no one came to pick up that mess. After my guests finally started to show up I just picked up the things and gathered up the glasses and basket of food neatly in a corner and cleaned up the tables. Finally after trying to get service for drinks I come to find out they had no bartenders and had to use two back bar guys to do the serving so of course it took forever to get the drinks, even a single beer. My family and friends finally just started ordered buckets of beers to make it easier. Meanwhile the worker who was off the clock got tired of everyone complaining about the service he jumped in and started helping serve. This experience left me very disappointed and dissatisfied that I stopped going here and don’t recommend this place at all!! I haven’t even been reached out for an apology.. how does an owner book an event and not secure that staff is full and then when his employees are calling to inform him of the issues nothing was done. They have a lot of choices of appetizers and have very good burgers and wings. They have the most down to earth, laughable staff there. Mel is the manager who also bartends along with Gina and Kristyn. Mel,who also does the promoting for metal shows, ( black cat productions) whom is also a musician herself, Tae is promoter there as there for the edm shows, which are amazing, they also have Chicago house music events who is hosted by Ike. They have a great comedy show as well and wrestling events as well which are always a great turn out. Also there is a really fun arcade room with all the classics and a pool room as well. The back graffiti room is also amazing with local graffiti artists. You can also have private parties there. Honestly when it comes to bartenders who actually interact, talk to and are great people to laugh and be silly with they have the best team ever. Who are not only co workers, but also friends and have one another's back to no end. Also they now have space cleared on another floor for private businesses to rent out and have their own office space if needed. It's always a blast to go there cuz everyone who is there is local and everyone knows everyone in life outside of Magoo's. This low-key place looks nice on the inside and outside but be ready to lose money and not get it back! The food was good, hot and cooked right ✔️✔️. Here's where the problem started... this was my family and I first time here and we were looking to have a good time. We came in at about 12am because they close late that's a plus. So we found out that the pool tables are cash only so you'll need quarters but don't worry they gave a change machine and an atm for you convenience. They didn't give us any instruction on which tables we could play in so we lost our 1st dollar there. Oh it's a dollar per game ( not bad). Then we tried out another table lost a dollar there too and after that I asked about the tables and how it works and could I get the $2 lost back... with an attitude she came to assist and also told us we weren't getting our money back.
