Went for breakfast this morning... Our waitress was nice. That's the only positive I've got.
Within a literal minute of walking to our table, my dad had to step on and kill a large cockroach that was scurrying out of a wall towards us. Upon coming to take our order, our waitress scooped up the carcass with a paper towel and simply blamed it on the summer weather. We almost walked out at that point.
I'm trying to be constructive here because I'm certain that the owner and staff are genuinely good people. But my experience this morning shows the danger of having (I'm guessing) little to no experience in the restaurant business. As a former restaurant and club manager with Ritz Carlton Hotels, this is my area of expertise.
Cleanliness is the simplest thing to achieve in your restaurant. It is something you owe to your patrons for both aesthetic and food safety reasons. If there are roaches in the common area, I would be scared to inspect the kitchen or walk in.
Decor... What decor? This place's name tells you it's a breakfast joint, but the tables and chairs and layout inside show that no noticeable money was spent on renovation, furnishing, or creating a theme. It is likely a former Burger King or similar spot. The device stations for beverages (for the wait staff to use) are stacked against the main dining room wall. The walls are having decorated with paintings of breakfast items, and then other paintings mention bbq. Seems like this place didn't have a clue what it wants to be. Menus don't clear up the confusion.
Food. Lackluster. Nothing I received was any better than something that someone with a couple hours of training could prepare at home. A sad experience. Coffee was bitter (and possibly instant). Toast was cheap quality bread and was unbuttered.
Won't go back. But I hope they hire a consultant to remedy these issues. Location is ok, so they might have some success of they fix these issues and put about $20k-$30k into...
Read moreSo I did a review a year ago and have had breakfast a couple of times since then. This morning when we decided on breakfast it was an obvious choice. But boy was this morning a complete disappointment!!! I was super excited to see that they finally got a website with the menu on it!! So we decide on what we want and I call it in for pick up. My initial thought was the price was a little bit higher than I expected but I just kind of shrugged it off. I go and pick up my food and I should have checked the bag before I left but they always have the bags double tied and I’ve never had an issue before so I just drove home. I was in a hurry because we live on the other side of town and I didn’t want the food to be so cold that I had to reheat everything......well I sat down and took a look at the receipt and the prices are definitely more than what the website lists. I paid 5.00 for 2 pancakes when online it lists the price as 3.99 I paid 2.99 for a bowl of grits that’s says 1.99 and I never even got the pancakes that I paid 5 bucks for. Do they charge more for pick up instead of coming inside the restaurant??? That was a huge disappointment! Now my husband is driving all they way back across town to pick up the $5 pancakes they forgot and everyone else is waiting while our food is ice cold so that we can reheat in the microwave just to have breakfast with each other as this is our only day together. For the 30 bucks that I spent on breakfast alone plus all the gas on 2 trips I could have made something 100x better and saved more money. They definitely just lost...

Egg House in Lake Wales Fl off of HWY 60 is the most inconsistent restaurant I’ve ever been to. I go there about twice a week and EVERY SINGLE TIME they mess up my order. I ask for no cheese, they put cheese. I ask for both bacon and sausage in my omelette, they put only one meat. Every time I go, they have different carry out plates, and they put grits in a bowl verses the tray which means their portion sizes are also inconsistent. There’s always at least one piece of onion in my food every time too! They ring up my order differently every time which result in different prices. This morning my toast was burnt and cold and I had cheese on my omelette 😡. They also have horrible phone etiquette!
To the Servers at Egg House, Although you’re not the one who makes the food, it’s your job to make sure it is correct according to what you rang in! Your face is on it, not the cook’s. And learn how to answer the phone and let me get my damn order out before you give me a price!
I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt because their food is like something you’d make at home but IM NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!
Not to mention these are the same owners of Manny’s Chop House that had the rat running around and failed...
