Owners Box Sports Grill — Restaurant in Lakeland

We tried Owners Box for the first time Saturday as a group of 8 for a birthday. We all tried each others food. Let me tell you it is phenomenal! The owner comes by to say hello which is nice. I’m going to cover a lot about the food here in just a second. First, let’s talk about the atmosphere. It has a feel of a fancy Buffalo Wild Wings with all of the games on huge TVs everywhere. It’s is nestled in an apartment community in Lakeland town square which is super close to surrounding neighborhoods. Perfect location. The restrooms were super nice with nice fixtures. The floors are a beautiful marbled acrylic. Place is nice and clean. Staff is super awesome and friendly/helpful even though they were busy busy busy. Ok let’s talk about the food.

Fish and chips. Nice serving of two filets with a crispy outside and had a wonderful flavor by itself. They serve it with seasoned fries, tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Fantastic. My second favorite dish.

Onion rings and fries are super good. Onion rings are perfect size. Crunchy and oh so yummy. The fries remind me of Popeyes fries.

The Cajun pasta is a little spicy, but you can request it without the extra sprinkle of spices they out in before serving which makes it perfect for those of us who can’t have spicy. It’s a nice flavorful creamy chicken pasta with onion, peppers, and mushrooms. Served with a salad and bread. That bread was yummy too. Fantastic. My favorite dish by far.

Chicken strips. They are hand breaded and crispy and flavorful. Served with seasoned fries. Fantastic

Chicken wings. Served bone in only and separated to drummies and flats. We tasted the bbq ones and the dry ones. Fantastic.

Philly cheesesteak is served with fries. You’ll need to request Mayo because it doesn’t come with. This was a great sandwich with a healthy serving of meat. I would order it again.

Turkey wrap. Yummy! This was what I ordered. It is served with chips or fries. I wanted honey mustard and ranch for my wrap and was charged $1 for each of those. It has lettuce, tomato, and bacon on it. Was super good.

A friend of mine got the jalapeño burger which I couldn’t taste because I’m allergic to Jalapeños but she said it was awesome. Served with fries.

The pretzels and beer cheese were good.

They offered lots of alcohol and variety of beers local and so on.

Overall, this place has it going on! So happy to have a cool place to hang...

Decent food but awful service both at the bar and in the dining room. We’ve been there several times now and we’ve waited for it to get better, both food and service wise, but unfortunately, food is decent at best and service is non existent. Obviously, I wouldn’t put every single worker in this bucket because that would be unfair to some, but this place still needs some work.

Bartenders are beyond rude and not attentive AT ALL, at least the two that worked the night we visited. We sat at the bar and one bartender never even said one word to us and we sat there for two hours…not one word. The other bartender, which maybe there’s some Owners Box rule that I don’t know about that says if one bartender serves you then the other one can’t, but they were awful as well.

First, our beer and drinks go empty and we purposely put the empty glasses on the rubber pads in front of us as a beacon for assistance and nothing. After 15 minutes with no drinks, we finally flagged them down to get our next round. This has happened on more than one occasion when we sat at the bar so no surprise there.

Next, asked for a menu to order some food. Looked the menu over and to no surprise once again, never asked us what we wanted to order. We sat the menu down on the same rubber pad trying to indicate we were ready to make a food order and once again, nothing. After 20-30 minutes of it sitting there, we flagged our bartender down once more to order food.

Now, food comes out in a decent time…kuddos to the kitchen there! But what else should come out with food? Napkins, silverware, maybe a check up on our drinks and to make sure our food is what we asked for? I would hope so. Did we get any of that? Of course not. Grabbed a stack of drink napkins from the napkin holder and used them in lieu of a proper napkin because attentiveness was non existent.

Customer service should be your number one quality in the hospitality industry and boy did they miss the mark with that one. Get new, attentive bartenders…period.
