My wife and I live right around the corner from T. Blanco's and have enjoyed dining here tremendously for over 10 years. This used to be our go-to favorite restaurant. However, in the past year or so, we've noticed a change. Service is no longer spot-on and the menu has changed. They no longer offer pulled pork (used to order it in the burrito) but our main concern is the steak in the fajitas. The first time we noticed a difference we brought it to the manager's attention. The fajita steak was so tough and almost inedible. We eat the fajitas often so thought this was an anomaly. Fast forward to a few months ago when we decided to give them another try. Again, tough as leather and terrible tasting. Last night was the last straw. Not only was the steak tough and terrible tasting but both my wife and I are sick today from our dinners. Plus, the service continues to be so-so which was not the case once-upon-a-time.
I'm sure T. Blanco's will stay busy because of their location (lack of nice restaurants in Lakeport) as well as the wonderful atmosphere, drinks and patio seating. However, if you are going there strictly for the food you may want to rethink your decision. Our meal last night (by the way, we SHARED fajitas for ONE) was almost $60 with a tip and drinks which are on special that time of the day. There are too many adequate Mexican offerings in Longview for us to patron them any longer so we don't plan to go back. We may be the only ones in East Texas that feel this way but wanted to reach out to those of you who are looking to try it for the first time. If they get their old menu back, fix the poor service problem as well as the fajita meat that couldn't be served to a dog, someone please reach out and...
Read moreWe usually get takeout when we eat from here, and they almost always leave something out or get part of the order wrong. I ordered ground beef puffy tacos, and repeated I wanted puffy tacos three to four times on the phone. When I got home I saw they gave us soft tacos. I normally check everything before I leave the parking lot, but they usually just leave a side out and I was in a rush. I rated two stars cause the food still tasted okay, but the food is overall pretty average. This will likely be the last time we order from here as we almost always end up disappointed.
Edit: We started getting take out again from here about 10 months after my first review. We had good luck the first 3 or 4 times. I was considering upgrading my review to 4 stars, but we had a bad experience yet again this last time. They left out the salad dressing with my salad along with one of the toppings, and they left out a side with the other entree I discovered after I drove back up there to get what they missed. Partly my fault for not checking the bag before I left, but I expect to at least get everything I ordered. It was only an order for 2 people so it wasn't that complicated. I doubt we will give them...
Read moreMy partner and I just moved here from DFW area. Every time we went to Lakeport we would pass T. Blancos and see it was packed every evening. We kept saying we wanted to see what all the hype was about so we went here for the first time tonight for a date night. It was so delicious, and the staff was so friendly. I had the Frozen Crown and Coke and my partner had the Frozen Strawberry Margarita, both were the perfect frozen consistency and were so very yummy. My partner and I also got the queso, which was pretty good, but very plain; no tomatoes or green chilies or anything other than cheese sauce. Then for our entree we split the Stacked Enchiladas with Shredded chicken and sour cream sauce with refried beans and rice as sides. That was super delicious and quite a big portion. We ended up taking some home with us. Definitely recommend this place, especially for their drinks. HH is...
