Right Side Restaurant — Restaurant in Lakeport

I have owned businesses all my adult life. I currently own a real estate company, an auction company, and a note company. I understand a little about the need for CUSTOMER SERVICE. Unfortunately, that is a concept that seems to be quite foreign to a lot of businesses today. Last night I ordered carry-out from Right Side. I got home (9 miles away) and part of my order was missing. I called Right Side and a gentleman answered. I told him I was missing part of my order. He asked if I could come back and get it, it is sitting on the counter, we failed to put it in your bag. I told him it was 9 miles and I didn't want to drive back. He said he would put the money back on my card. I said I had paid with cash. He said send me your address. I am on my way. I told him I did not want him to do that. He insisted! That gentleman brought the rest of my order 9 miles to my house, during the busy part of the evening. Oh, by the way, that gentleman was Manny Callejas, who happens to be one of the owners! Did an online order to be picked up for a family of 4, $105 worth of food. The blackened catfish had barely any seasoning on it, the popcorn shrimp poboys had too little shrimp for the loaf of bread they served it on. Red beans were bland because they were under-seasoned. They left out 2 orders of banana pudding, and 2 orders of cheese grits, and the beignets were below average. For the money we spent and the reviews we read, on top of items being left off that were already paid for, we were highly disappointed. Tried to call to let them make it right, no answer, left a voice message after calling back and trying a different...

Stumbled among The Right Side, literally! It was their soft opening and very happy that we stopped by for lunch. Their staff was very welcoming, attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in. The food didn’t disappoint either. Their catfish had a great crunch, was flavorful and not dry. For a healthier option, their blackened grilled fish was light, moist and with the right amount of spices. Chef kiss! 🤤 Definitely will be coming back to try their other dishes. Oh..,and they have free soft serve ice cream too! Great to have such a wonderfully family owned business...
