The Stables Smokehouse — Restaurant in Lakeside

When I went in here for the first time, I was having an awful day. I was in a terrible mood, and I was hungry. The burger was decidedly good, and an enormous serving of fries came with it! I got the basic jalapeno burger and fries schtick, but I splurged for something extra: Peanut butter pie. I'll say it now, best peanut butter pie I've ever gotten from a restaurant! The owner, a nice enough guy, and I chatted for a bit before he mentioned the clubhouse. I was intrigued, but not entirely interested, until he brought me to the back-most room and showed off the largest reptile collection I've ever seen! I walked out with a full stomach (though admittedly I would've still gone for more pie if I had the time!). Very rarely, with restaurant portions, do I feel like I walked out with my money's worth....

I don’t live in Lakeside but when I am there, I always stop here. Family friendly would be the first thing. Jaxon and April, the owners have not only invested in this restaurant that serves some bomb food BUT, they really care about the youth of that small community. They hold lots of events and welcome the kids to come to the club house and chill with others, adults or kids. NOW to the food…….comfort food that satisfies everyone! I stopped in for the first time today. Wasn’t quite sure what to expect as the restaurant is located in a dated building AND it is mid-January AND Lakeside is on the Oregon Coast!!! I discussed BBQ with two of the employees and felt right at home. I ordered the BBQ’d meatloaf. OMG!!! Huge portion of really good meat. About a three pound loaded baked potato. BBQ’d beans. And a cobbet of corn. $18!!!!! Excellent food. Friendly staff. Huge portions! I won’t have to eat for a couple of days….although I’m going back tomorrow! A true hidden secret...
