Fantastic atmosphere, super open and clean but still pretty chill. The 2 hostesses greeted us and we asked for a booth at which time they had a decently long conversation about which section to seat us in.
Menu prices were overall pretty pricey for the quality. I got the wood blackened bbq chicken with mashed potatoes and Italian veggies. The chicken was thin and it looked less blackened and more just grilled. The BBQ sauce was definitely on the sweeter side. The mashed potatoes were ok and the veggies were pretty good. I got a bourbon (my first time trying bourbon so I went with the sweetest one) and it was plenty strong but the taste was just not something I could handle, it was giving me a stomach ache after 2 sips so I asked the waitress to see if we could take it off our bill and just have her take it back. She said sure, turned half away and made a face and left with it. If she had said "no" politely or even just a "sorry, no". I would have felt better than the judgement I got.
The Pepsi was also watered down and at that point I just kinda gave up and finding something I liked there.
My husband got the vodka soaked fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and a strawberry lemonade. He enjoyed his meal well enough and liked the sweeter BBQ on my chicken but both of us saw the face and agreed that the service side wasn't the greatest. I don't think...
Read moreTLDR: We’ve visited this place several times now and have always been satisfied by the pleasant service, good food, and comfortable atmosphere.
This visit, I ordered a PIGEON HILL BEACH PLEASE (sooo good and refreshing and I appreciated that they had it on tap).
We ordered the Pork BBQ Nachos (Hand pulled pork tossed in hickory house BBQ, covered in cheddar cheese and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, corn, red onion and black beans) and I am told that they were “gewd” 🤣.
I ordered the Fettuccine Vodka Alfredo (A blend of northern Italian marinara and Parmesan cream sauce. With Chicken Scallopini, Shrimp - what I got 😎- or Blackened Atlantic Salmon) and it was delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked, however, I felt like the shrimp were undercooked and I left a couple behind because the texture wasn’t good/edible. The bread that the pasta was served with, though?? I didn’t expect there to be garlic toast and it was probably the best I’ve ever had!
The parents ordered the Beer Battered Cheese Curds (they weren’t as hungry as we were) and I had one to try, and holy cow were they good! The best cheese curds/cheese sticks/cheese anything as an appetizer I’ve ever had. I’d highly recommend these!
We’ve been here before; we’ll be here again.
Make sure to cook the shrimp a bit...
Read moreTook a tour through the menu this evening with friends. We have never been to this establishment, but have visited the sister building next door several times (Handsome Hobo's). Everything we ordered was good. We started with pomegranate martinis, beer and whiskey, the martinis were mixed beautifully. Next we ordered a couple appetizers. The Beach Bread and Spicy Tavern Chips. Beach Bread - I had read another reviewer state the beach bread was overpriced. I 100% agree. The bread was good, but it definitely should have double the portion for the $8.99 price. It's pretty laughable. A 1/2 measly slice of sub bread was served on a large dinner plate with cheese/tomatoes on it. It just looked pathetic. Sorry Hobos -but that appetizer definitely needs review! The Spicy Tavern Chips were on point. For dinner we ordered the perch, a filet mignon, and a dinner salad between our group for dinner. Everything was decent. The perch was good, the steak was seasoned nicely and the salad was fresh. For dessert we ordered what was recommended -the Chocolate Macadamia Nut Brownie Cake and the Oreo Crust Peanut Butter Pie. Both were good. Our service was great, food was decent for this style restaurant, - the bread portion is my only...
