El Vaquero — Restaurant in Lakeview Township

Visited my son at his college. Freshman. He wanted to try out some of the local restaurants, so he oicked the place. We felt bad because it was rather late and they would be closing in about 45min or so. Walked in and we were the only people there. So we felt even worse because we knew they had probably started to clean some for the night. But, they greeted us very welcoming and were very happy to help us. He was wonderful waiting on us and didn't hover like they wanted to leave. Even when some of the cooks sat down and ate, and he sat with them, he paid attention to us to see if we needed refills, boxes or anything else. The food was great. We traveled a total of two hours to visit this restaurant and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The food was delicious, as I expected from previous reviews. That’s not what makes this place so special though. The staff and the atmosphere are what really stand out. Our server was helpful and friendly, even humoring my father as he practiced his Spanish! The way this place is decorated made me feel like I was back in Mexico. It’s so colorful and they put so much attention into every detail. The tables are each uniquely decorated with a beautiful 3D image. Definitely looking forward...

I was part of a large group dining here this evening. Can't say enough good things about our experience! We did call ahead for a table, but there were 22 of us, on an otherwise very busy Sunday night. No problem, they got us taken care of.

Every order was correct. Service was fast. And the entire place was very clean. That's a personal hang up of mine. Even the menus were getting wiped down! Just super impressed. I happen to love chilaquiles, and they were delicious. Couldn't eat them all because the portions were good sized, so I have lunch for tomorrow....
