This location was built some time ago, but for no particular reason I had never gone there until today 8/10/22. It used to sit alone, back from the road with no other buildings near by, but in recent years a Christian Bros auto shop was built to its west and on it’s east is a daycare. At least I think that’s what’s on the east; another business I’ve never used in the 20 years I’ve lived nearby. In the last few years my mobility has decreased substantially and as a result I now don’t go places I have to stand in lines or often walk into. Today was a special occasion.
A relative went with me who was buying and they couldn’t order what they wanted online because they needed to tell the sandwich artist exactly how they wanted their sandwich made. Otherwise I would have gone to the Subway on Pilot Knob, because they have curbside delivery. Just prior to the pandemic is when I joined the disabled community, and during this time a number of businesses began offering curbside, something this particular Subway’s website indicated it would start doing, but that never came to fruition. I’ve heard and read too many reviews about third-party delivery services either taking too long, or eating part of an order, or just getting the order wrong (which is then blamed incorrectly on the business) and will not use them. This location offers walk-in pickup or dine-in only with third party delivery the only other option. Hence the reason I hadn’t gone recently.
Anyway, on this occasion someone was going in with me, so I thought if there were a line, they could hold my spot while I sat down. It wasn’t needed. We would have been the only customers if one other hadn’t shown up minutes after we got there. The place was clean, cold (air conditioning on high while it was perhaps high 70’s outside), empty except for 2 employees who showed up once we got to the counter. Because the building sits by itself, it seems small, but it’s most likely the same size as any other store (except those inside Walmart for example which are tiny in comparison).
I did realize one difference that online ordering suffers in comparison to walking inside: ordering online doesn’t allow you (or me at least) the ability to get all the sauces added on. I missed that and was happy to be able to get my sandwich drowned in sauce. The artist seemed stunned anyone would order one this way. I was asked several questions, some that seemed odd. Toasted? No. Heated? No. Would you like the meat heated separately? Huh? Umm, no. I realized later when I got home and was eating it that the meat seemed iced, like it had come out of the freezer that morning. Had I known that I would certainly have had it heated first.
Another review claims the prices here to be higher than others in the area, but I can’t comment on this as I wasn’t the one who paid, and have come to know they never pay attention to how much something is unless it’s outrageously different. Nothing was mentioned so if higher it was negligible.
All in all, this was a pleasant experience! If I notice how empty it is in the future, I think I’ll go in again and give them...
Read moreI am beyond displeased with my experience tonight. I placed an order via the app around 8:45, and it said my order will be ready by 9:10. Store closes at 9:30 if you're not aware. I show up at 8:57 and the lights are off, front doors locked, and no staff in sight. The side door near the online orders was open, so I was able to get my order. The staff member came out from the back and he confirmed it was my order then went back into the back. It was odd but that was not the bad part.
I get home to find that even though I placed an order for a footlong sandwich, I only received a six inch. I immediately hopped back in my car and called the store, where the worker told me that it was the wrong store and hung up. Then I called again and confirmed it was the right store, where he tried to tell me I only placed the order for a six inch sub. In the app and on my receipt it says 12". I tell the worker that I am on my way back and he said that the store closed early and that he couldn't make my sandwich. I recorded the last part of the call where I said "I am coming back for the rest of my sandwich" and the worker hung up on me.
I show up at 9:28 and tug on the door, it's locked. The staff member peeks out from the back and sees me, then he comes to the locked door and tells me that the store is closed. I tell him to remake my sandwich and he says "do you want your five dollars back?" I said no because I deserved the rest of my sandwich. I used a discount code and 800 points to be able to get my sandwich for 5 dollars, and it wasn't about the money. He just walked away.
I open my six inch sandwich to at least eat what I had, and it was on the wrong bread. I also paid for more meat which was nowhere to be found. The toppings were skimpy despite me putting "more" for all of my toppings.
I have all of my encounters on video because it felt sketchy the whole time, and I have pictures of my sandwich. I am going back tomorrow to make sure that they make this right. I will provide videos when I show up tomorrow but keep them off...
Read moreUsually when I enter any restaurant I expect to be greeted in a friendly manner and politely waited on. The boy who started my order was anything but. In a very monotone dull voice he asked "what do you want?" I asked for the chicken and bacon ranch to which he replied "On?" In a very annoyed tone. So I told him which bread i wanted. Sluggishly he scooped some chicken and plopped it on the sandwich, then grabbed two slices of bacon and careless layed it on top of the chicken causing a chunk of chicken to fall off the sub that He didn't even try to put back on the sub. He asked "Cheese?" So I told him pepper jack, then he asked "toasted?" I said yes. 7 words he said during my interaction, no smile, no effort. Really seemed like he didn't want to be there. Made me not want to be there. The female associated who finished my sandwich didn't bother with the chunk of chicken that was still sitting on the outside of my sub. At this point I was just done, I was hungry and I just wanted to eat. I just can't believe the behavior of the male employee. I wouldn't want any place of business that I run to be tainted by such negativity and lack of ambition. I hope that this gentleman finds some happiness in his life because his emotional state and lack of drive wore off on me as I'm sure it did the folks behind me. Order was on 8/3/17 around 550pm. Needless to say I'll never eat at the Lakeville...
