I tried wingin it. First I ordered over phone last Friday fish and chips and swapped fries for onion rings. I thought the location was the one in the parking lot of Star Market. There are 2 Wingin It's in Lakeville. The one by Star Market doesn't do onion rings. So after realizing this I started driving to the Wingin It which is by the pond and located at the Lakeville Eagles.
The food was nice and hot. The fish I ordered was the light-batter version. They provide good portions of fish, 4 large fish fillets. They provided 4 quarters of lemon, which is very good, as I love lemon on fish. They have a special onion ring sauce called boom boom sauce which is like a horseradish sauce. I enjoyed it. Onion rings were hand breaded which I loved, only issue with the rings was I was given maybe 10 or less individual onion rings. Not what most would expect when you order fish and chips. You expect a good helping of fries (or in this case onion rings) which you pay a small fee to substitute onion rings for the fries. I had to lift the fish filets up searching for onion rings, all I could see was the fish. The batter didn't stick well to the onions but both the onions and the batter were delicious regardless. The main complaint is the amount of rings was shockingly tiny. Definitely not enough rings to go with the amount of fish. Still they were small onion rings. If I had checked before driving home I would of gone back up and said something but being Friday and wanting to get home I drove straight back home.
The flavor of the fish (light) batter seemed very salty or to much seasoning flavor (that seemed salty) or something. Was hard to pinpoint the over-powered flavor outside of it just being a bit salty. I still ate it but the tartar sauce was sort of ok for me. Nothing special and a little lacking on the tangy part I like from tartar.
To recap, the (size of the) fish portion was great. The onion rings portion was horrible. The flavor of the fish was ok but quite salty-like seasoning flavor. The tartar sauce didn't really go well with the fish for me (not tangy, bland sauce). The tartar just didn't have enough flavor for me, seemed more like mayo with little bit of added bits that gave it a mild flavor of being tartar sauce. The onion rings were delicious (hand battered is A+) but onion ring portion was shocking (maybe they forgot some?) I was very disappointed by the onion rings. Compared to the portion of the fish it doesn't seem like they gave me the correct amount of onion rings.
I would come back for the onion rings, but if I did I would definitely inquire about the portion size.
Overall I think they are ok. If you order onion rings with your fish make sure you check the portion before leaving. I will probably try again soon and will update when...
Read moreSince its opening, I have frequently heard about this establishment, with numerous recommendations from members of the Lakeville Helping Lakeville Facebook group, particularly praising their lobster roll. Being only six minutes away, I was eager to try it. Regrettably, the experience fell far short of expectations. The lobster rolls were unpalatableâtough and excessively salty. The truffle fries were burnt to the point of being inedible, and I found myself needing to wash down each bite with soda to mask the unpleasant taste. This was especially disappointing considering I spent over a hundred dollars on lunch. The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the fish and chips, which were passable. However, based on this experience, I will not...
