Me and my girlfriend came in for the first time today, we've moved across the street recently and decided to give the place a shot. She ordered a chicken sandwich which was ok, I ordered the steak and eggs with the sirloin, the medium-rare that I asked for came out to be medium/med well, when I addressed it to the waitress she asked if I wanted it less cooked and I said yes, took it back to the kitchen and a minute later another waitress(maybe manager) came over with my steak cut open in the center, she showed me that the center was supposedly less cooked (still wasn't med rare no red center) and explained that the corners will always be more cooked (which I understand I've had and cooked plenty of steaks before), but I also just knew right away that it wasn't going to be med rare by the toughness of the meat, she just wanted to make sure that I still wanted a new one and said that meat is expensive and she'd have to toss the one they served me, so that's why she's asking... I've never seen this before, if I sent it back it's because I wanted what I came for, a medium rare steak, as a server for over 4 years I understand that the customer is paying for their meal and if they don't get what they ordered you're supposed to make it right, and not make them feel bad about you having to toss it, which is unfortunate I hate wasting food and I constantly have to at my job, but I know that shit happens and the food is not going to come out perfectly cooked everytime. I ended up just saying whatever, I'll eat this since you have to point out how expensive it will be to replace a sirloin steak that probably didn't cost them much more than $5, not a Filet, not a ribeye, nothing special, but just keep in mind that sometimes it's even more expensive to the business to not have a customer come back, which I'd be interested to if it wasn't for the greed

My lovely Bride, youngest kiddo and I stopped in to Danny Ray's after a Jr. football playoff game in Lakewood. We like to visit local when we can, which is why Danny's was chosen. We were greeted and sat right away. The staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive and made sure we were never missing anything at our table or with our order. We were there in time for happy hour, which hardly ever happens for us! We took advantage and along with a beer and a house margarita, we ordered a pickle shot and a spicy pickle shot. Oh my, these can be dangerous! They were so delicious, we could have sworn it was just pickle juice. We ordered Jalapeno Verde Queso and chips. This came out quickly and the chips were warm. The three of us enjoyed this while we waited for our food. We all agreed, we would definitely order this again. My son ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. My Bride and split a California chicken sandwich with jalapeno coleslaw. The kiddo loved his burger and onion rings. It was cooked medium just as he ordered. My Bride loved the chicken sandwich, but I thought it was just okay and dry. We did split it, so maybe I got the thinner piece of meat. The coleslaw was good with just the right amount of spice. Overall, we would order it again. While we were almost done, staff (and I assume one of the owners) made sure everything was done right, joked with us and the kiddo. Definitely made us feel comfortable and like we were regulars on our first time here. We oredered a piece of carrot cake to share. Sorry, it looked so yummy with the cream cheese frosting, we ate it before we thought of taking a photo. It was much bigger than we were expecting, moist and delicious. If back this way, we will definitely stop!

I have been here on two different occasions, and it was great each time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a classic diner vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. The food is consistently delicious, with generous portions and a menu that offers a variety of options to satisfy any craving. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Danny Ray's in Lakewood, Colorado, delivers quality and comfort that keep you coming back for more. The service was very attentive and the food came out quickly. All in all a great experience. We started with a Greek salad with gyro meat and pita. The salad was 7.9/10. The dressing left a little to be desired, but all in all a good choice. For our entrees I got the Crispy Chile Relleno, which comes with two crispy rellenos, hash browns, green chili & cheddar cheese 10/10. The other entrée that we got was the West Colfax, which comes with bacon, ham, sausage, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheddar cheese & green chili, 9.1/10. I have yet to have a bad meal here yet. It would have been nice if they had some desserts available, however we were not offered any. I look forward to being back soon.

When the food was excellent and the wait staff was on top of their game, you might wonder why I’m giving them two stars.

It has to do with the rudeness and aggressiveness of the owner, and namesake, Danny. Even after he covered our meal, but it was the attitude he did it with.

This would of been five stars if it wasn’t for his attitude and one star if the people working for him weren’t so nice, attentive and the food was anything less than stellar.

I had the Country skillet and a cup of coffee that stayed constantly filled.

We didn’t know he was the owner at first. He walked by our table after we’d been done eating for 10min and said “can you please leave soon,” and I’m pretty sure after that he mumbled, “we need to turn over this table to make money.”

We had been there about an hour, had finished our food but were spending a little extra time. My friend had an appointment that didn’t start for another 30min. I hadn’t seen her in a couple months because of our busy schedules. We chose this because of it’s good ratings and it’s location in between my home and my friends new home.

It’s a typical family diner, just like the photos look. Very homely ambience.

I have been a business owner and understand making money. I haven’t run a restaurant, so I’m not sure how fast tables need to turn over. I can tell you that the first time he said this, there were at least 3 tables that were open with no one sitting at them.

After about another 15min his rudeness stepped up to the next level. He stopped at the table and started with, “I don’t want to be rude, but I need you to leave. I need to make money and you are taking up this table.”

My response was, “this is our first time at your restaurant and you are being rude. We probably would of come back except for this experience.”

He then basically said, “fine.” Grabbed our bill. Threw it at the cashiers and said, “they don’t have to pay.” Went back to us and said “now please leave.” Then he stormed away.

We got up, went to the cash register and paid our full tips. The wait staff still deserves to be paid, as it’s not their fault and they did a great job. There suddenly was a line of people behind us leaving as well, I’m not sure if it was from this outburst, a few tables finished at the same time or a little of both.

I had my suspicions it was the owner who did this, but the cashiers confirmed it when we asked who that was.

For someone who is worried about money, it’s unfortunate that not only did he lose our receipts for a table that took 90min, lost our future business and gets a bad review.

Denver has many amazing breakfast options and unfortunately we won’t be returning...

If I could give a minus 100 I would! A friend and I just went there! It's nothing but Chaos! Sat at the bar,it took the bartender forever to clean our area. When she did, she took a cloth and Spray it with water that they fill your glass with. Then she was not making Margaritas the proper way. She filling up the glasses up to the top with ice when she ran out of mix. Then a staff member came up and just started eating olives out of the fruit tray with her fingers at the bar. When customers would leave the bar their place wasn't cleaned. They had the Rockies game on, everything was fine until some guys sat down at the bar and took the remote for the TV 's and turned the to another channel! Mind you, the TV we were watching had the game on and there was 3 other TV in front of the bar. I said something about this. Next thing I knew some girl comes running out of the kitchen saying I was Cursing at the staff! Oh my goodness! I wasn't yelling at anyone or using foul language! Then I used the restroom before I left. The toilet are so low you can hardly get back up, except for the handicap stall! I realize that they just opened up on Tuesday the 4th of April! But come on! I've never been so disrespected as a paying customer ever! Even one of the bartender said that the restaurant not being run right! We will NEVER be going back!!! Then Danny the owner came out, he didn't ask what was going on. Instead he asked how I liked the bar. The bar is not set up all the tools the bartenders need to make mixed drinks and Elly hasn't been trained on to properly make mixed drinks. After Danny asked me about the bar he announced he had to pee! Are you kidding me! During the time I was there, some of the kitchen staff would come out to the bar and make personal calls! Seriously! This place is truly messed up! They are going to have an extremely hard time tomorrow and Saturday! Bottom line, I'm horrified about this place! And yes, I have over 10 years restaurant experience! Bottom line, I will not be treated rudely and accused of Cursing and yelled at by staff when I was not doing anything but being a paying customer. The owner Danny never asked what happened or what was going on. This place will...

5/24/24 I came for the Friday Night Prime Rib Special and was disappointed. I hate cooked canned peas - that was the vegetable side. Ugh! The prime rib was just ok. It was not very tender or tasty. I have eaten A LOT better Prime Rib at numerous restaurants. Definitely not worth the $24.95 I spent. Will not be doing that again! 😕 Wow! Just plain wow! I discovered this restaurant based on another person's social media and had to check it out. Absolutely amazing food! This may be one of the best breakfast/lunch spots I have eaten at in the Denver Metro Area. I used to pass by their old building and was not impressed with the exterior of the building; for that reason I never stopped in. That was definitely my loss. Thus far, I have stopped in twice; once on a Saturday and once on a week day. Both times they were busy - but the weekend was REALLY busy - like wait list busy. The staff were very efficient at handling the pace of business. My servers were excellent both times. The first time I tried the Irish skillet with biscuits and sausage gravy. I got news of a family members death just after my meal was served so I took it to go (had lost my appetite). I ended up eating it as leftovers that night about 7 hours later and it was still delicious - even the biscuits did not get hard. My server was very gracious when I told her I had to take my food to go - as I had just received word of my mother's death (two days before Christmas 2023). She even served me a huge cinnamon roll to go as comfort food for me - at no cost! People can be so kind! The second time I had their Greek Salad. Initially, I was a little apprehensive about the appearance of their salad dressing; but much to my surprise it was very delicious - different but delicious. (Greek Salads are my go to salad choice.) You MUST stop in and enjoy a meal with these guys. They have some very interesting alcoholic beverages on their menu. It is a sports bar type atmosphere -but it is definitely not a place where the focus is on alcohol. The vibe is about good food and people gathering together! Big screen TVs line the east wall with all different channels being...
