People are not kidding when they say the sesame pockets are fantastic. The savory pork hash stuffed into those almost too hot sesame pockets tasted so amazingly good!
Also got the honey walnut shrimp and you should not pass up on it. The shrimp was so nice and plump and the mayo with walnuts added to each bite was just too wonderful.
The Kung Pao chicken was also very good, it tasted different, but so much better than many other Kung Pao chicken dishes I have had in the past. The sauce was much tastier and the vegetables were actually cooked/seasoned well.
The servers/owners (?) were also very prompt and nice, can't wait to visit again and try something new (definitely getting the pockets again though)!
Update (7-8-2022): Tried their chicken and broccoli, paired with a brown sauce, and it was very tasty! Golden Plate II puts their own spin on the flavor, but it works very well for both the chicken and vegetables.
Also tried their sesame shrimp, which was lightly breaded, garnished with crispy white noodles, and swimming in a savory sauce. While I liked their other shrimp dishes more, it is still a very solid choice from a very delicious restaurant!
Update (12-14-2022): Still impressed with their quality of food and service, everything in my previous updates holds true.
Had their sweet and sour chicken today and while the chicken is good quality, it was essentially chicken nuggets on a bed of lettuce. Their sweet and sour sauce is also missing that extra tang, but it's still good. Probably perfect for picky eaters and kids, but not the sweet and sour chicken you normally expect from American Chinese...
Read moreLooks can be deceiving here, it's a small hole in the wall place. The outside looks very rundown. The lot that Golen Plate is in looks completely terrible. But we decided to try it out since the sesame pockets here were supposedly very good, and it did not disappoint!
The filler (which we got pork) was delicious and paired very well with the sesame buns. So good I was shoveling it into my mouth by itself when I ran out of buns.
We got the Kung pao chicken and the honey walnut shrimp, both which were delicious. Kung Pao was less American tasting than you'd get at some other places and had a rich flavor, while the Shrimp was nice and plump and very very fresh!
The egg rolls were just your standard egg rolls. Being a cheap lunch special deal was just extra icing ontop!
Golden Plate is definitely our favorite Chinese place so far in the Denver area. Can't wait to come again and try something new.
Update: Came back to try the Pan Fried special noodles. It was sooooo good. Sauce was so good you could drink it. Shrimp here are enormous here and taste fresh and very well marinated. Wish I could review this...
Read moreI'm in the middle of my first meal from here, but I can say with no reservations that I am supremely underwhelmed. I ordered the beef lo mein and it is very far from what I would have expected. While, at first glance, I was pleasantly surprised to see elements not typically found in beef lo mein - baby corn, mushrooms and water chestnuts, it was immediately apparent that the beef was beyond dry and the noodles are not what you would expect. They are essentially a more egg-based version of spaghetti. The flavor you'd expect simply isn't there, and can only be referred to as decent Chinese after a hefty dousing in soy sauce. For my money, I'd much rather go a mile and a half south and get the best Chinese food in the area. To their credit, however, the lady who served me was nice as nice can be. In conclusion, this restaurant is probably a hit with the nearby high school crowd, but leaves a lot to be desired for...
