I was anxious to try this out if the way bbq joint. The reviews were pretty good and the pictures looked great. Unfortunately, that's not what I found at HUG BBQ. The place was empty at 6:15 on a Wednesday night and that is usually a sign for me, but I went in anyway. I ordered the $30 3 meat plate so I could try a bit if everything. Brisket, turkey and chicken plus macnchz and elote. It was a healthy portion of meat for sure, in fact a good portion of the sides, too. I ordered several of my favorites and I was starving! The chicken was on top and pretty dry, but it had a good smokey flavor. The turkey was very dry with the same good smoke, but the brisket was so dry I needed my tea close by to choke it down. I was so hoping for a better outcome as I love good BBQ and I love to support home town businesses over chains, but it was not to be. Both the sides were very obviously left over from at least a day ago, if not more. The macnchz had little flavor and looked nothing like the pictures. The elote was gross, the corn was grey and very chewy. The sides are probably wonderful when they are fresh, but not today. The sauce was quite tasty, though, and there were huge bottles on each table. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I was ordering, however I am also tired of places requesting a tip for just showing up to work. They don't deliver your order to your table, you have to fetch it. So I tipped them for taking my order and slapping it on a plate. I'm a generous tipper and happy to do so if you are a server, but come in folks,...

Read moreI was gifted with a 3 meat bbq plate for Valentine's from a friend. Her initial review of the restaurant was superb. I was excited to give it a try. Customer service was excellent. My order was prepared fairly quickly. They did a good job with decor. There were quite a few people dining in. While I waited additional customers came and dined in or picked up carry out. The traffic made me extra optimistic. I ordered ribs, moist brisket and beef sausage. I ordered macaroni and cheese with baked beans for sides. I added a slice of strawberry cake to my meal for my daughter. It was quite a bit of food and cost right at $40. I hadn't eaten and I was really hungry. I plated a bit of everything as included in my photos. The sides were meh. The macaroni lacked flavor and the baked beans were sweet. The beans were sweet but otherwise lacked any detectable seasoning. I wished I had ordered pork sausage because the beef wasn't it for me. The brisket was partially moist and dry. The ribs were underwhelming. Maybe trying a restaurant on a holiday wasn't the best idea. Or maybe I'm just not the target demographic. I wanted to taste sautéed onions and bell peppers with bbq sauce and seasoning in the beans as well as creamy Mac and cheese. I wish them the best and hope they continue to reach their...
