China Palace Restaurant — Restaurant in Lansing

I order from here mainly because it’s close to my home, but I found that they do several things quite well and somethings not so much. (A friend once ordered the cashew chicken I didn’t see a single cashew). Favorites on the menu for me include general Tso’s chicken, Shrimp lo mein, Mongolian beef, and fried dumplings. And the dumplings are better than I’ve had another restaurants, mainly because they take care to make sure they’re slightly crispy on the outside. I ordered the spring rolls recently and thought they were quite good. You won’t get hot mustard sauce unless you ask for it.

Their lunch specials run from like 11 to 3 PM which is economical. Delivery always comes sooner than I expected and it’s always hot, but as I said I live close by. Their website is very well done: easy to use and easy to add special directions such as extra spicy or additional sauce. Prices are reasonable and the people are always nice. I find that they put too much broccoli in their vegetable mix for many dishes, and the broccoli is usually somewhat strong flavored suggesting it’s slightly old. They seem to use the same vegetable mix for Several dishes even though the pictures don’t necessarily depict the same things.

They try hard to make sure their containers don’t leak when you get takeout and they support the bag with pieces of cardboard. They use paper bags stapled shut inside plastic bags for easy carrying. This helps to...

Ordered food while I was visiting family for thanksgiving and it took over an hour to get my food delivered first of all. Secondly, they delivered the wrong food and when I called about it the manager didn’t care whatsoever. I then asked him to refund my money because they did not give me the right food. He told me no at first and that he would have the person bring me my food that likely had already been delivered. I told them no that I didn not want food that had possibly been delivered to someone else. He then claimed that he refunded me. Here it is almost a month later and I have yet to get my refund. The manager gave me his personal number to show that I still didn’t not get refunded even though he told me he did it that night. I even took the food up to the restaurant that was not my order and they still told me that they refunded me. So they not only didn’t give me my food, but also kept my money. They also told my bank after an investigation that the transaction was valid so my bank would not refund my money. I will be calling my bank to fight this. Even though it was minor change I feel that they can’t keep someone money when they were not given the food. Horrible place. Never again will I order from them during my visit. Waverly...

Ordered the fried rice with beef & broccoli combo as take-out. Then, found a dead house fly buried & squished into a piece of the beef after eating most of the meal. So, after being nauseated from what I found, I call them to speaks to a manager. Wasn't even able to tell them my complaint or what the call was about before they rudely said, "No manager here! Call back tomorrow!" Before being rudely hung up on.

So, I called the Department of Health's Restaurant inspection line and made a complaint to them instead, since I'm obviously not going to get anywhere with the restaurant itself. Now, it is left up to them to inspect the issue. I hope they do an inspection of this restaurant and if there is any health violations that they'd be dealt with promptly.

As far as my own thoughts go on this restaurant. I'd have said the food was good if I hadn't found a fly in it! And, as far as costumer service goes? Worst I've ever come across. There is no reason to be rude to a customer on the phone when they are politely asking to speak with a manager or owner over an issue they had. This was the first time I've ever had their food and I'll never order from them again or dine-in/take out...
