Stop in the first time ever today to give them a try. The place is very cute and rustic but the atmosphere has nothing to give. The waitress I had was very standoffish from the start. Yes they were busy while i was there but that isn't a good reason to not pay attention to your tables fully. They let the orders just build in the window so plates are pilled on top of plates and as far as i can tell theres no heat lamp either to keep the food warm while it sits there. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with 2 Over Medium Eggs on a separate plate, Load Extra Crispy Hashbrowns, and a biscuit instead of toast. After waiting probably 45 or so minutes i finally received my food. The Chicken Fried Steak as no flavor but is a very decent size, my eggs come on the same plate as my hashbrowns even though I asked for them on a separate plate, my extra crispy loaded hashbrowns weren't crispy in the slightest, lastly the biscuit was delicious and was the best thing. Everything was homemade which was very appealing but the experience wasn't the best first impression.

Look for THE PELICAN Cafe sign, Not Railside Diner. We found out the name changed in 2014, but since it was The Railside for many many years, many locals still call it that : ) Classic Local Cafe experience in eating here. Good service, fresh cooked food, and lots of locals in and out which makes a fun atmosphere for travelers coming through. Server had a coloring book and crayons for our little one. Lots of booths and lots of deer heads : )

Wow!! The best place to eat is the most unassuming locally owned dining experience. Seriously have some of the best fries, very fresh! The burgers…. Where do I start??Whatever they do to these burgers WORKS!!! Tasty, fresh and your choice of big 1/3 or 1/2 lb. I ordered the Bubba burger and it was absolutely amazing. sorry about the picture , I could not wait to eat this masterpiece!!

At first we weren't sure we wanted to come in. It looked run down from the outside. We wanted to try a new place and didnt want the typical IHOP type resuraunt. The parking lot was full at 9 am. We knew there had to be something to it. We went in and our waitress was great. Two of us ate for less than 20 dollars and the portion was so big, we each had an entire lunch of leftovers. Im not kidding...I couldn't believe the potion size. The food was fantastic. This isnt a place we will forget any time soon. Any time we drive through this part of Montana we will be making an effort...

I love coming here not just because the food is great, but how much food you get for your money and the great service of the employees there as well! Idk about you guys but almost everywhere I go, I spend about $15 on a burrito sized omelette that you can get at mcdonalds and a handful of hashbrowns. I always leave hungry but here at the pelican, I never leave hungry! They give you a great amount of food that is also delicious! The employees are always nice, friendly, amazing people who love to have conversations with the people. I love this place and will always be a...
