Carmelita's — Restaurant in Laurie

So let's start with arrival. We arrived at Carmelitas and the parking was not full in the slightest, and it's not very busy. The layout of the building is also very good. In the main area they have some dispensers for MM's, Skittles and off brand mochi's. (Fun for the kiddies) And the only thing I don't really like is that they had very minimal decor and what little decor there was was like party decorations. the tables are just the perfect size, and when the servers came around they were incredibly nice and went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing meal. We ordered some spicy sauces and They DO NOT MESS AROUND with salsa. It literally burned my entire face and I was crying the whole time from the heat. Very authentic. And I ordered the chimichanga and the rest of my family ordered a burrito. Harmless right? No. The burritos were about the size of a toddler. And the food will make you stuffed incredibly fast. They did give my child a Styrofoam cup and he wanted a regular cup so he was upset about that but the servers were circling around to make sure we enjoyed our meal. It was SO good. After that bombshell of a meal. We ordered dessert. I got the fried ice cream which was also TOP NOTCH and it was so hard to resist the goodness of the ice cream. Authentic Mexican food. Tasty and true to menu descriptions. Margaritas were great. Loved my Chile Rellenos! Every was happy with their food. Clean environment, attentive staff, good food, I'll be back!

We've been back! Carmita's burrito is HUGE and full of really tasty ingredients. The chicken chimichang is perfect and served with rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream and both smothered with queso cheese. Great meals!

Most recent 'new to us' dinners were Tacos al Pastor (pork and pinapple) and Enchiladas Cameron (shrimp). Wow. Both are flavorful and plentiful! Haven't found anything we don't like, not that we expect to or that we are looking. Lol.

Tonight was steak and chicken fajitas, a fajita taco salad and chillie rellenos. Yum! The steak and chicken were tender and seasoned just right. The sizzling platters were piled high! The accompanying rice, lettuce, guacamole and salsa were all fresh and tasty. The chillie rellenos orders had two large peppers with queso cheese sauce and all the sides. All 5 dinners were great. I would love to give this place a better rating. I was working in the area for several weeks and this was the closest restaurant to the jobsite. I probably ordered carryout 5 times in this time period. I ordered the same thing everything. They forgot to put plastic silverware 4 of 5 times. I caught on after the 2nd time and just helped myself at the servers station. It's a busy place. Especially on weekends. There were 2 times that I was told 20 and 30 minutes. I am typically late. I arrived 45 minutes only to find my order wasn't ready after waiting another 30 minutes I left. When I was done working 2 hours later. I stopped in. There it was cold as ice. But I paid for it and was on my way. I always order my meal with extra sour cream. I have never had extra sour cream. Maybe dine in is better. The food is decent. The staff is friendly. I'm patient.
