Avery at the front was especially helpful and down right awesome- clean, professional, and full of smiles. Prob would of gave a 3 or 4 outta 5 if it wasn’t for Avery’s exceptional customer service and willingness to help.
I came during lunch rush and there was a bit of a wait but I was thoroughly entertained by the unique atmosphere with endless decorations, plants, and antiques to admire. I love how their menu is huge in chalk on the wall.
I ordered a bread bowl and while I was waiting the owner called out my name twice (the first time I looked around and couldn’t find who it was that was talking.) They explained the bread bowl was mistakenly rung up as a regular bowl and that I owe an additional $3.28. In retrospect I’m a little taken back. As an experienced manager and business owner I wouldn’t of disclosed the mistake to the customer. I would of just let it go or did what I needed to to account for it, i.e. add the bread to food waste, charge the $3.28 for inventory purposes and account for it with petty cash or other means. I discussed this with two other (successful) business owners over dinner and they were both slightly appalled. Such an odd interaction, never experienced that before, especially not from an owner with all the authority in the world to write off the extra cost. It was especially insulting considering just prior I had tipped 3 dollars plus change and had asked for singles specifically so I could do so. I came with $25 and left with $9, which means for a bread bowl and a can of coke, with a tip, I paid $16.
Something else kinda gave me bad vibes- another customer who had held the door for me came in for pick up and the owner inquired about their order and then says, “Oh, you’re early. It’s going to be a while. We’re still making [it.]” From an outsiders perspective it seemed like a far less than the best way to talk to a customer, especially with an order as big as theirs.
Once you become successful and business opportunity is plentiful, it can be easy to loose sight of the value of each customer and employee. It’s important to remember where you started and that everything can be gone in a flash at any moment.
I’m not sure how the food was. I picked it up for a team member who called off work because they were sick. They said the soup was not good but considered it could have been because their taste buds were off. I was hoping they had chicken noodle but I respect that they make all of the soups in house and isn’t a cold season which might explain why they only had...
Read moreWARNING MOLD ON FOOD.....Today was my first time ever eating at the sandwich bowl and I will never go back again!!! Neither anyone else i know after finding MOLD, I REPEAT, MOLD on my hamburger bun!!!! I wouldn't even rate the place a 1 out of 5 stars. If i had to choose it would be a 0. I was on my lunch break and wanted to eat and go, After ordering i had to wait 25 minutes. I then had to request my food to be put in a to go box because i had to go back to work. When i took a bite of the hamburger it fell apart and thats when i saw the MOLD all over the bottom of the bun! I literally wanted to throw up. I was so mad I went right back to the sandwich bowl and spoke with the manager and requested my money back. She offered to get me something else and i told her no "because i had lost my appetite after seeing the mold on my food". All i got was an apology and a drink.. She didnt even want to give me a drink because she said i had already gotten one when i was in there earlier. I was shocked, the "manager" was even the OWNER of this sandwich bowl and thats how i get treated.. WOW. She even said that we have high standards for quality food! "Yeah right, by giving me food with mold on it. I dont think so". I warn anyone if you eat here to make sure you check your...
Read moreJust tried for the first time today. I had seen so many reviews about how amazing this spot was. So my hopes were high. We went for the special but it was out by 1:00 and thus, decided on the B.A.T.H and the Porkin Party sandwiches. The lady taking our order asked if we would like pickles with out sandwiches--thought that was a strange question but I suppose it saves them a few pickles from the occasional person who doesn't eat them? Unfortunately, even after responding "yes" they never made it onto our to go order. Not a huge deal, but for the first time eating there and only being allowed to order to go, you'd expect orders to be correct. The sandwiches were just okay. Nothing too special, and sandwich sizes were kind of small...
