Sunnyside Diner — Restaurant in Lawrence

Took my family here to eat, haven’t been in years. Food was good quality for the price, experience at the restaurant was going pretty decent UNTIL one of the employees completely ruined it. When I was signing off on the check, one of the male employees was standing so close to me where there was no boundaries whatsoever for like a minute and a half until I looked at him and asked him if “could I help you??” He asked me if everything was good and I said yeah and he then proceeded to put his hand on my shoulder and rub my shoulder a little. THEN, he asked my toddler cousin if she wanted to follow him and even though her mother told her “no, don’t walk along with him” he had the audacity to say “it’s ok we are going to just chat” and when her mother said again not to go with him, he still allowed my cousin to follow him to get two lollipop candy treats near the kitchen. At the end of the day, so uncalled for the male server/employee to stand so close to me where there was no social distance and boundaries, so inappropriate for him to assume it’s okay to put his hands on my shoulder and shake it, and so over the line for him to disrespect my cousin’s mom’s wishes for her to not follow him near the kitchen when clearly we wanted for her to stay seated and finish eating. Never coming back, food was good but service was not at the end of the day, so I’d rather go eat somewhere else in the future that has BOTH good food AND...

Read these amazing reviews and though of going to Sunny side diner today for brunch. I called 10 mins earlier and was told there is no wait for a table. When we arrived we were asked to take table on a side where there was no server, but they were going to serving us. The same server who was about to leave for another job, served coffee (just warm enough) and got other drinks. She mentioned three times the other server will show up in a minute, the other server kept ignoring our table. The other server just did not want to walk a few steps and take our order. Our order was finally taken by the server who was in a hurry to leave for another job, but the attitudes of these servers is very bossy. Although they keep saying ‘honey’, the OK, at the end makes me wonder why are customers getting scolded. After food was served, no one showed up to ask if we needed anything else. I wanted water, some more coffee and a take out box, the server just didn’t care. I understand they were short staff, but no acknowledgement, no eye contact and no sorry makes me wonder why are they even working there if they are so grumpy and unhappy. We had to leave the money on the table as we never got a receipt. The food is average (it’s eggs, what can go wrong), but the bad attitude deserves a zero star. Never going...

Good pancakes at a great price. Try to go there every Sunday but today was different. Went over there at 12:25 as soon as we walk in a person comes and tell us we can't sit or eat cause the kitchen close 12:30 I mean that's five minutes early plus they were people in there and half of them didn't have there food in front of them. Then we leave quietly about fifteen feet away the guy comes out and start whistling at us to get are attention like if we are dogs I don't know about you but I don't like to be whistle at. We kept walking away. I work at kitchen I know it's not easy but if I was a manger I would let people in five minutes before we close and just let them know that kitchen is almost closing give them a limited menu option. Also if somehow a customer walked out cause I told them the kitchen is close it really wasn't then I wouldn't whistle at them I'll run up to them and call them out. But hey those are my opinion if I was a manger. I'll never go ever there never again. Really bad...
