We came here from out of town looking for something local outside of the usual food. We chose Twisted Fresh because we saw that the owners replied to nearly every review, good and bad. We came at a time when google listed it as “a little busy.” We weren’t greeted and the service was not impressive but there was no line or wait. As we waited for our food customers poured in and out for delivery, to go, and dine in orders. There was a kind woman with a long braid from the kitchen who came up and helped assist a customer asking about the burgers. Unfortunately, shortly after that, we observed the same person picking a scab on their arm and saw it fall to the floor. From the time we placed our order to the time we got our food was 17 minutes. The side we ordered was missing so we went back and asked for it. They didn’t say much but they got the side for us. With that, that total wait for food was approaching 20 min. We asked for the burger medium rare but it was medium well. The 4 alarm burger was delicious though and so were the baja tacos. We were surprised that the burger didn’t come with fries. Especially for $27 for two people. The street corn was a let down for me it didn’t come with the tacos, we paid extra for it. I imagined it would be warm and similar to esquites or elotes, true street corn. I think if it was hot it would of been better but it came straight out of the fridge. I didn’t eat it. I was prepared to give this place a five but the poor service combined with the couple of hiccups with the food has me...
Read moreI got myself the 4-alarm burger (jalapeños, pepperjack, buffalo sauce). I got mine medium rare, but I could tell if I got it medium well or well-done, it wouldn't be tough and rubbery like some burgers. Instead, it'd get that crumbly, dry texture with smokey flavor that's a sure sign of a good burger. It's a big burger too, and the flavors blend super well together. They left the seeds in for the jalapeños too, the right way, the spicy way.
They also have three sauces that you can just grab as you want: Jalapeño salsa, chipotle, and habeñero. I didn't try the Jalapeño, but I went for the habeñero and tried some chipotle. The chipotle tasted homemade, and I could really taste that smoky adobo pepper flavor that's so iconic. Easily the best chipotle sauce I've had in town. The habañero was real spicy, but not overpowering. It had that sweet, tangy habañero flavor that you really need for a good sauce.
They also have a house lemonade that I tried. Definitely more sweet and a lot less tangy than I like my lemonade, but still very good. A lot of lemonades are so sugary it makes me sick, and that was not the case here.
And it was all a good price. $12 for a solid sized combo meal.
Twisted Fresh gets a 5/5. One of my favorite restaurants in Lawrence from just my first try....
Read moreAbsolutely the worst and most rude service I have ever received at any establishment. My wife and I ordered two wraps. West Coast and Gyro. My west coast was loaded with bacon that was absolutely stale, rock hard, and devoid of any moisture. Like bacon bits left open in the fridge. We ultimately decided that we would return the food after a couple bites and get a refund. The manager there named Stephanie was extremely rude on the phone, said she would not do any refunds, that she made the bacon fresh and it’s not her fault we weren’t happy with the food, etc. and then hung up on us despite us trying to be as polite as possible! She was completely argumentative and unprofessional. Needless to say we took the food back and we were given a gift card to an establishment we will NEVER go back to despite us requesting an actual refund multiple times. I guess no matter how disgusting your food is here, NO REFUNDS?! DISGRACEFUL! Take your business to Mediterranean Fresh, their ingredients are actually fresh. Nothing fresh about Twisted Fresh. They are definitely twisted on their business...
