Hungry? Need REAL food and want to be satisfied after the meal? THIS is the place to go!!! I was treated to lunch at Heaven to Betsy the first few days of my move to Lawrenceburg. I was skeptical at first, all 3 of my friends were telling me about the sandwiches this little local shop creates, they were almost drooling thinking about having their favorite sandwich.
The day was beautiful with a slight breeze so we opted to enjoy the outdoor umbrella seating out on the Main Street sidewalk. We entered, reviewed the menu and walked up to the counter, beverage display to order. The menu has numerous different items! Gourmet sandwiches, sides, soups and desserts. They have the basic beverages such as colas, coffee and teas; they also offer adult beverages. If you'd like to have a glass of beer or for the ladies, a glass of wine, they offer a small but satisfactory selection. You will have a hard time deciding once you've been amazed by these delicious sandwiches!!
I am in love with their Reuben Sandwich!!! A real, traditional style Reuben!! PIled 3 inches high with corned beef( no exaggeration ) heavy with sauerkraut, swiss cheese and Homemade thousand island dressing on a Toasted rye bread!! I was in Heaven!!
My friends each ordered something different as well as fries and a bowl of soup but my eyes were glued to this beautiful creation in front of me.. my eyes being bigger than my stomach, I was able to eat half.... the rest I packaged to take home.
Since then, when I don't feel like cooking, I'm in a hurry and can't prepare something but I want a FILLING, HOMEMADE and DELICIOUS meal... I call Heaven to Betsy! To my amazement, I called one evening to find out how later they open as my son was going to pick up sandwiches on his way from work. The woman I spoke with told me they were open until 8:00 pm. She asked me when I needed the sandwiches, and to my surprise... She wrote the order for the following evening!! My son was delighted as well to find out that you can order ahead of time and have it piping hot and ready, exactly when you need it!!
I have never been disappointed with the service, level of quality or my choice of sandwich. This is an amazing local shop that should be frequented by any visitors, those who are new to the area and of course the locals who all know where to go for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFelt the need to leave a 1 star review, especially after a terrible experience this afternoon that will officially be our last visit. This place has slowly gone downhill over the past year or so. My wife and I are/were regulars. Over the past 5+ years, weāve visited at least 75+ times. Usually once or twice a month. During COVID, we felt a need to support it even more with it being a small, hometown business. Iāve even recommended it to numerous others, which I will now āun-recommendā.
Lately, their specials are unavailable within a day or two of being announced and theyāre constantly out of sides (i.e. cornbread salad, pasta salad, etc). The tipping point this afternoon came when we walked in at 6:21PM and the lady working the register told us that they closed in 30 minutes and that any order would have to be ātake-outā only. Note, they are supposed to close at 7PM, not 6:51PM. We were wanting to sit down for a quick meal (maybe 15 minutes max), not order take-out, so we decided to go somewhere else. I politely mentioned to the lady working there that she may want to let Jackson (the owner) know that the hours on Google (that stated they closed at 8PM) were incorrect and he might want to update them. She immediately became defensive and hastily said that they close at 7pm and not 8pm, and that someone keeps changing the hours and she has to keep changing them back. She then said that theyāll probably change their hours and start closing earlier, instead of staying open so late. 7PM is late??? On a Saturday evening???
We want to support small and local businessesā we really do, and we will, but we wonāt be supporting Heavenās To Betsy anymore. The restaurant directly across the street stays open much later. Itās sorry that itās come to this, because from my previous review a few years ago, I raved about H2B like it was the best thing ever. Oh, how time can change everything.
The food is good, but as a loyal customer to any establishment, you want to feel like youāre helping them, and doing them a favor by visiting, not the other way around.
For reference, Iām writing this review on July 23rd, 2022, a few hours after...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMost Charming Place / Most Delicious Food. My wife and I like to think of ourselves as beginner Foodies, but there is nothing "beginner" about the food and customer service served up by the "Heavens to Betsy" Crew. Forget taking your cues from the likes of Guy Fieri, Adam Richman, and even Anthony Bourdain. Not necessary when such a place exists in our own backyard. A place chocked full of savory and sweet goodness. We have tried a variety of the cuisine offered up in this cozy, coffeehouse-like environment, and have never been disappointed. Seriously folks! You could not find better sandwiches, tomato pie, quiches, soups, and baked goodies if you drove in a 100 mile radius. Heavens to Betsy is locally owned by people who care about a quality eating experience. Its reflected in their welcoming faces, the quaint, inviting environment, and the delicious food. Whats best you ask? Its really hard to say whats best when everything is so gratifying, but my personal favorites are the Reuben Sandwich, the Turkey Bruschetta ( a special item), the Pig Licking Cake, and the Orange Dream cookies. Listen folks! Never you mind the great value! Just go and treat yourself to some of the best Bites that Kentucky...
