If I could have given this churchâs chicken location a 0 star I would have. First of all, I love churchâs chicken and since they brought back their original recipe I have been a devoted customer, however, I will not be going back to the Lawrenceville location on Hi-Hope Road anymore. I went to Churchâs the day after Thanksgiving and I ordered a 16 piece family meal, I usually check my order before I leave but this time I didnât. I specifically told the manager and the young lady that I wanted 9 wings and 7 legs, and I confirmed with the young lady before I left that it was 9 wings in my box, she said it was. I went home opened the box it was not 16 pieces of chicken, I only counted 12 pieces of chicken and my aunt confirmed it, and they only gave me 6 wings. I called and told the manager of the mistake that they made, he proceeded to tell me that he watched the young lady make my food and she placed 9 wings in there. I told him that I was counting the chicken as I spoke to him and it was not 9 wings in my box. I told him I didn't even have 16 pieces of chicken which was what I paid for, he proceeded to tell me that I was wrong. I spoke with the young lady who gave me my chicken and she told me I can come in and replace it. I went back the next day for him to give me at-least my 3 wings that I asked for he said, ânoâ bc he had it on camera and he made my chicken and he know he put it in the box, and then he turned around and said he asked the girl who made my chicken and she said she placed all the chicken In the box. My mom was with me and she tried to explain to him how maybe his employee made a mistake, and sometimes people would say they did what they were supposed to do but they really didnât. I was not rude to him but he was very rude to me and my mom over 3 pieces of chicken and he lied and accused me of putting a bad review on google for his business, I told him ââ I did notâ but I will be today for your rude behavior. And he said he was going to call the police and both my mom and I were confused. The owner is a racist and he doesnât show good customer service at all. He is greedy and do not want to hold himself nor his employees accountable for mistakes that they make. I am not one to give bad reviews and I usually let confrontations go, but after today I had to warn the public about this churchâs chicken location. Do not go to this location at all, especially if you are black. It is Indian owned and he have black people working for him, and...
Read moreWhat I experienced and witnessed today at Churchâs Chicken while picking up a DoorDash order was absolutely distasteful and honestly disturbing. The behavior of the man who claimed to be the owner, Jo, was some of the worst Iâve ever seen in a workplace â and I say that without exaggeration.
When I walked in, I was kindly greeted by a young employee who asked what I needed. I told him I was there for a DoorDash pickup. Right next to him stood a man who looked like a manager â hovering over the employee, practically in his personal space. Before the employee could even finish helping me, this man rudely interrupted, speaking over him and abruptly ordering me to âsit downâ since the order wasnât ready. The tone, the attitude â completely unnecessary and disrespectful. I continued to stand there and wait because I didnât appreciate being spoken to in that manner.
What happened next was even more disturbing. As the young employee bagged another order, Jo (the âownerâ) started scolding him harshly â literally in his ear, in his face â then snatched the bag out of his hands while raising his voice. It was aggressive, humiliating, and clearly meant to intimidate. I was shocked. I stood there watching in disbelief as this man gave the employee the most hateful, disgusted looks â like he truly resented his own staff. You could see the hostility in his eyes.
I asked if he was the manager, and he smugly replied, âNope. Iâm the owner.â To which I responded, âSo this is how you treat your employees?â Thatâs when his tone suddenly changed â he started backpedaling, apologizing, trying to explain himself. But the damage was done. I told him plainly: This is not how you speak to people. This is not how you run a business.
I walked out sick to my stomach. That young man looked like he was new â still learning â and trying his best. No one deserves to be publicly belittled and disrespected like that. If this is how the owner treats his staff, then this establishment has a serious problem at the top. Thatâs not leadership â thatâs bullying, plain and simple.
Jo should not be allowed to run any business. His behavior was abusive, unprofessional, and completely out of line. I genuinely hope someone steps in and holds him accountable â because that young employee deserves better, and so do the customers...
Read moreThe fries were bland, unseasoned and unsalted. The tenders were okay but they only gave us 1 pack of sauce. The Coke was okay but they filled ice all the way to the top so there was less Coke in the cup which was medium sized. The biscuit was okay. The apple pie was okay. The chicken sandwich was quishy and flat with no crunch or seasoning added. And to top it off, as the only vehicle in the drive-thru, I was surprised because after we got our food which took awhile, I stayed at the window, and said "Excuse me! Can we have some ketchup please?" There were literally 3 people standing right at the window and they completely ignored me for several minutes. They had just handed me our food so they knew I was still there. I waited another 30 seconds or so until it became very obvious that they had no intention of ever acknowledging me or my request for a single pack of ketchup after having just spent almost $19 at their establishment. We ordered 2 combo meals with fries and got zero ketchup with our order. All we got was one pack of Honey Mustard sauce. My son wasn't happy with the quality of the food and the lack of sauces and dips. Without me asking him, after he ate, he told me that he never wanted to eat there again. Prior to that experience he was really looking forward to eating there. That was our first time ever eating at a Church's Fried Chicken and it will definitely be our last time.
I think they're trying to save money by skimping on sauces and drinks but it comes off as bad business to customers, especially when they completely ignore you. We've been to hundreds of drive-thru's, and so we know very well how most other drive-thru employees respond to customer's requests for extra sauces, etc. which 10 out of 10 times is "Sure". And then they hand however many packs you want. If they charge extra for sauces, they tell you that instead of completely ignoring your existence as if you're invisible. How bizarre. No wonder there was no other customers in the restaurant or...
