Big Dave's & Holly's — Restaurant in Le Claire Township

This place was recommended to us by a business down the street since we were visiting the area for the first time. Since they are right along the Mississippi, we had decided we would order our food and picnic with a nice river view. The staff was beyond awesome and with a classic mom and pop atmosphere, you couldn't ask for better first time experience. Soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with friendly smiles and cheerful personalities. They even worked around our rushing to order so that we could get back out to the truck where our dogs were waiting for us and some burgers as well. They even brought the orders out when ready rathert than letting it sit for us to come back in. With all of the traveling we do, finding the businesses that still put customers first, rank sky high in our favor and will always make us repeat customers again when we pass through. Very impressive small business. It's an ice cream, sandwich shop. Depending on the day of the week Holly offers a special meal not on standard menu. We had a wonderful roast beef dinner. The last time we were there we ordered root beer floats. She actually came back around before our ice cream was gone to refill the root beer! No extra charge!!! She said when she was a kid she always hated she would run out of root beer and left with ice cream. This place makes you feel like a big kid! I typed in “hole in the wall I-80 restaurant” and this was one of the first few listed. Was kind of skeptical because of a couple of bad reviews, BUT DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!!!!! The staff was super friendly and happy to help and answer questions. My tenderloin was amazing! If you like sauce or a lot of Mayo I would ask for a side. I always do anyways ordering a tenderloin. My boyfriend had the steak and cheese wrap which he says was delicious and the crinkle cut fries were cooking perfectly :-) not to mention, their homemade potato salad was impressive!!!!
