La Herradura Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Le Claire Township

A foyer or another set of doors would be really nice. On cold days you feel it every time the front door is opened.

Now the food.... Usual Mexican food. About the same as the the other Mexican restaurants with multiple locations in the QC area. Most everything served tastes like packaged food that is heated and served. Whether it is heated in large batches on the stove or the microwave, it has that same Mexican food taste. This is part of the business model as freshly prepared daily is expensive for any restaurant. Not saying it is bad, it is what it is. Hence the 3 stars on the food.

Went today for lunch and was fairly disappointed. Service was friendly but rather slow considering how few guests were in the restaurant when we arrived (Shortly after opening). The salsa's primary seasoning was cilantro, our beans were cold (the cheese they put on top of them didn't even melt and they were 'al dente') and the rice, which was lukewarm, might as well have been plain white for the amount of flavor it held. My burrito tasted fine but was fairly small for $10 compared to what I could get at Chipotle or Pancheros for the same price. My wife's fajitas were likewise less than flavorful. The highlight of the meal was the side of queso we ordered with our chips. But just before it came out we heard the familiar chirping of a microwave. I’ve heard good things from a few people so I decided to try it out. The rice, beans, salsa and chips were really good. Our entrees Tacos Pastor and Veggie Skillet were good! The downside was the lime margarita had zero alcohol; I only tasted sour mix. I asked for a salted rim and it was only 1/4 salted. I didn’t have fruit garnish like every other margarita I saw throughout the restaurant. I’ve never returned a drink but retuned this one I did. It was awful! The tortillas were meh.
