We normally eat at the Lupe Tortilla located on Nasa One in Webster and are very familiar with their food quality and service.
This was our second visit to this Lupe Tortilla location on Hwy 96 in Kemah since it opened. We enjoyed our first visit to this new location on so much that we told our family and friends. However, our visit yesterday was probably one of the worst that my wife and I have ever had eating at any restaurant. The margaritas were like a snowball with no flavor and certainly no tequila. My wife had the Poblano pepper and chicken. It is supposed to be topped with cheese. However, it was only full of cheese. She dug out a plate full of cheese before finding her first piece of chicken. I had the enchiladas with fajita beef and they had no flavor what so ever. We asked to talk to the manager and we could see right away he couldn't care less what we had to say regarding the food and drinks. He told us he would go talk to the kitchen and get back with us. We NEVER saw him again. Our waitress was slow as molasses. There were other people that arrived after us and were served and left before we even got all of our food. Our table was located near the bar and some foul mouthed loud individuals wanted everybody to know they were there and had likely been served to much alcohol and this is at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday. To say we were highly disappointed is an understatement. We will never go to this Lupe Tortilla location again and we will tell all of our family and friends about this awful experience.
Just so you know, writing a negative review is not our style, when we eat out we appreciatively compliment the staff regarding the food quality and service with 25%...
Read moreGuys…. This is a hard review to write. My husband and I are Mar Bella residents and avid Lupe Tortilla (Bay Area) patrons. We were so excited when we found out about this location opening but we have given them chance after chance and today just felt like the final straw.
Every single visit has been nothing short of a painful experience. The first time, we sat at the bar for 25 minutes and were never even greeted, so we left. We’ve had a few handful of mediocre experiences since, then today, we waited 35 minutes for a table for 2 because we were skipped 3x in line for a table. Once we were seated we ordered a taco salad with a side of chicken, they brought out a taco soup. We wait for them to correct it and the salad comes out, no chicken. We wait on the side of chicken, eat quickly and ask for the check. The check is wrong. They have to run back again and fix the check. We were there nearly 2 hours and all we ordered was a tea, a topo chico, and a salad.
The wind has been taken out of my sails guys. It’s like an ex that you keep going back to and you pray something has changed but it never does, no matter how many times they promise you they have things under control. We even mentioned to the manager how many bad experiences we’ve had when he came to the table and even he looks exhausted from hearing complaints.
If I’m gonna spend my money with Lupe, I’ll brave 45 and Bay Area, this location is not worth your time, and...
Read moreI’ll start with I know anything new in the area takes time to perfect. It’s taken us till last night to give this location a try.
I first reserved a table; glad I did. The hostess was super sweet and told us where to go order a drink while we waited. My husband spilled a drink and as I was cleaning they stopped me. They had someone come take care of it. I’m not a leave it there kind of customer… that was really nice of them.
We were sat not too long after arriving and I was so hungry. Everything smelled and looked delish! Our waiter was great! I’m not sure if he was super busy or what was happening, but patience was packed for us. Things were a little slower on delivery than what should be normal, but still he was great.
Their salsa is so good and I loved the bean dip!
I love a good queso! The queso tasted good but it was not warm… not warm at all. No, I didn’t send it back… we just ate it. The fajitas were good; not sizzling by any means but good, and the fixings were great portions. I loved the black beans!
I tried two of the drinks but wasn’t a fan, but I’m sure there is one I’ll like. My friend drank my first one and I slowly finished the other I ordered.
I want to change my rating so we will give it another go. It has all the makings of a 5 and beyond but this is an honest review. I feel even if a restaurant is busy, you should still serve warm/hott food in a...
