Very very disappointed. I have been coming here for years by myself or with my family. My mother ordered $80 worth of take out food and when I went to pick up the food I could have not been more blatantly ignored. I walked to the end of the line and was skipped over multiple times but the cashier and the person taking the orders. I raised my hand and stepped forward and was still ignored. My friend finally had to speak up and ask for help. Our food was sitting on the counter the whole time just getting cold. If I was by myself I might have thought I was crazy but it was a very perposful action. No one asked if I needed help or offered to help me as people ordered and picked up food around me! The manager tried to fix the situation but the food wasn’t very good. All the food was cold once we got home. (Large pizza, two dinners, and two calamari apps) The pizza and the knots had way to much garlic. The calimari was the best part but that was ice cold. My father passed on his diner completely.
AND the cashier made sure after we finally got help from the manager to say to every customer that he helped “thank you for being patient , thank you for being patient” like I couldn’t hear him. No one was waiting around but us and I tried to patiently wait until I realize what game was...
Read moreMax's is amazing, the food is super fresh, delicious and the portions are more than generous. Having moved to the area only in the past year, we've been searching for a go-to spot that can work as a quick sit down with a small child, good take out, but also a nice place for date night. Max's hit all 3. The quality of their bistro style take out doesn't sacrifice quality, the quick easy sit down for an early dinner is great with wonderful service, and the evening date night meal has a great ambience you'd expect from a nice Italian restaurant. As a bonus their pizza is great too so really easy to accommodate all ages and eating preferences.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owner's Tony last night as I picked up a later night pie during their $9.99 monday large cheese pizza monday special, close to closing. He was super nice as we talked about business and even gave a few bags of garlic knots to try at home which was just really nice of him. Ever time we've eaten there or gotten take out we see Tony or the other owner which is nice to know that they stay close to the business and there is passion behind what is served.
We look forward to continuing to going back to Max's for the above mentioned occasions and using them for catering events in the future...
Read moreI am the grandson of Max, not the owner, but the 91 year old gentleman, whom these wonderful people have graciously taken care of since my grandmother had passed. I live out of state and can only visit so often with my wife and children. The closest family is 30 minutes away and has been fear stricken by the pandemic, limiting their visits. He says he goes 3-4 times a week but I understand it to be almost every night. I can never begin to thank everyone there enough for all of their hospitality and kindness throughout the past few years. Eating dinner there is always something he looks forward to, along with the wine, and it reminds him of his sweet wife, and my loving grandmother. He is fortunate to have found such loving and kind folks at this late stage in his life, and our family is forever greatful for this. So if you decide to dine in and you happen to see my grandfather, or sit in Max's Corner if he isn't there as he tends to eat dinner around 5pm, say hello, and do speak up, as he had lost his hearing from his service in the army and from his years as a builder building homes in the Central NJ area. Also, the food is always...
