Our experience at this restaurant was HORRIBLE, I feel compelled to warn anyone looking at this as an option for a meal to RECONSIDER and DON"T GO!!!
As you see it from the street, I was surprised and hopeful that there was going to be a quaint and vibrant local restaurant; then I walked inside. At first impression, I thought, at least they tried and moved passed the failed attempt of looking like a southern california / baja feel. Then after I was asked if we wanted chips and salsa before seeing menu's, I gladly accepted; to find out the little bowl was $4.00!
Once looking at the menu I realized the prices were high which set my expectations even higher for their food and service. Then the food came out.......one plate at a time.....There were only 4 people. and maybe 8 other tables in the restaurant eating.
First all 4 more meals, 2 kids meals and 2 entrees, were all brought out at different times. One meal was brought out wrong twice. Each time they brought it out, the protein became smaller and smaller. It was obvious they were taking off the part that had the aoili sauce on it. It was ordered without any. Ninety Minutes later, my wife still hadn't been served, and when i just asked for the check so we could leave, they asked me if I'd like to have the unedible meal that was never served to be taken off of the bill?
Duh,,,Yes, and comp the whole thing creating such a bad experience.
When I asked to speak to a manager (one would think if a plate has to be sent back once you'd see them, twice, they'd be apologizing, and three times, they'd be kissing your A$$ to try and get you back through the door again no one came. In fact they were perplexed....
Frustrated, I paid, and went to my car.. I had to go back in to ask to speak to a manager or owner to let them know it's not going to well for them. Again the complicated question was too much for their gelled hairbrains to handle. Not one person there with authority, except a pompous kid who was a waiter asked me, "what I wanted?" What I wanted was to be treated with a little bit of respect and speak to someone to warn them their business is going to fail because your food isn't that good, your service isn't close to good, and your staff is squandering your investment.
The lack of service and level of respect they give customers was shocking!!
I'll be surprised if their still open for anyone to read this. I feel for the owner of this place and hope you read this so you know what it's like.....I took my family to your restaurant, and was spoken to like I was a bad child by some punk waiter who watched to many episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Sorry buddy, I hate to break it to you but your a waiter at a restaurant in Leetsdale Pennsylvania; not a celebrity chef in the Upper West Side.
It's a shame to who ever owns this restaurant that your money is being squandered and there is no one present to take responsibility and work with people to get them back through your door.
A simple apology and some attention to the problem would have...
Read more1st time back after minimum service around covid. Expected it to return to its former excellence. Not so much. They were busy and at 730 pm got a bit of a rush, it being summertime. Reduced hours. 4-8 or 4-9 depending on the day. Slow service observed due to severe under- staffing. No actual bartender. Server has to make drinks also. PLUS do their actual job if serving etc. only 2 servers evident at the time we were there and one bus boy. They need to hire more people!! Especially for Fri & Sat nites!!! Seems like more focused on take out orders now which the servers also have to work on. Not good. Very pricey. Cmon, mex food isn't THAT expensive to buy the ingredients. A house salad, no protein, $12 for a handful of greens and a pittance of tomatoes & onions? $15 for house-made guac that seriously needed seasoning. Tasted like nothing. Same with the cup of black beans on the side. Burrito looked great til it was mostly black beans and rice with just 2 shrimp and THAT was $19 with no other sides. Everything other than their homemade salsa for the chips was pretty bland which I'm surprised.. Charged for sour cream and red salsa, which tasted more like tomato sauce. Cmon! Whoever heard of Mexican food without salsa and sour cream?
For 2 people, one of which who didn't get an entree, and only one drink between the two of us, it was a whopping $77!! Totally not worth it, and we won't be back unless they up their game. Menu, post Covid, is totally different with only a couple of choices per category. Seems like they're concentrating on the items that go well in carryout, which appears to be a large portion of their business. The entire place was spotless so I will give them that as an extra kudo. So, after sticker shock and paying the bill (plus a tip) which totaled $86, I have two positive things to say which is why I gave it two stars instead of one: Our server tried his very best to be attentive to us and accommodate our needs. He was well-trained and very friendly. I felt really bad for him and the other server he was working with. The second positive thing was that I really liked their homemade chips. At first glance they looked like I would have needed to salt them but then as we dug into the basket they used a coarse salt that actually stuck to the chip and it was very tasty. But again you had to pay for those separately which was $5. It's a shame that what was once a very great place to go and eat, with excellent food, and excellent service is now a shell of what it used to be. Parking continues to be an issue since this building is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. But we were lucky and got a spot alongside the building. So sorry but it...
Read moreThis place had been recommended by friends & family members to us for quite some time, I am not sure if there has been a change recently at this location or what but I would not recommend this establishment or return again. My husband & I arrived on a Friday night the bar was full and the restaurant had about 2 or 3 tables open we stood at the front unsure if we sat ourselves or if someone would seat us. A waitress did come over asked how many then said I'll be right back she then waved us over to come and sit down at a table. About 5 minutes later the same girl who sat us asked us what we would like to drink at this point we had no menus, or drink menus for that matter this was our 1st time here and unfamiliar with what they offer anyways, we noticed a lot of people drinking margaritas so we ordered two single margarita's ( about the size of 8 oz.) which is an $8 drink & waters. They also offer you chips & salsa ( which costs you $4) but they don't mention that part when offering. About 10 minutes later we got our margarita's which I might add was the only good thing about our experience here it was a made from scratch mix & tasted good. We still had no menus the waitress brought 1 over & stated they were out of menus as soon as they could find another one they would bring it over. A few minutes later someone else ran another menu over to us. We ordered chicken enchiladas & pork belly tacos 35-40 minutes later our food arrives. The rice was hard & the black beans seemed as if they weren't really cooked all the way through the chicken enchilada was mediocre nothing great & the shell was borderline burnt on the inside & the lettuce on top was the white core part of an iceberg head. The pork belly tacos were pathetic for $14.00 you get two small corn shell tortillas with barely any thing on the inside literally 1 slab of meat not filled at all. We had no silverware brought to us at our table still at this point she brings over one rolled napkin silverware set & tells my husband they are out of rolled silverware so she scrounged up a fork somewhere & a napkin & brought that over to him. At this point we just wanted to eat & leave after a $60.00 tab, poor food, & understaffed service. Terrible experience & will not...
