If you are in this area, or traveling through, this drive-in/take-out diner is worth a detour, in my opinion. The man knows how to use a griddle. Our lunch was deeply satisfying. We almost drove past it because I was expecting a conventional restaurant, not a compact kitchen-with-parking. FYI: there is no bathroom for customers. The rear has a drive-up window; we stood at the front, sheltered order window (there are a few picnic-style tables where you can eat). You place your order and the owner prepares it. My wife ordered the egg-and-sausage breakfast sandwich; I ordered the cheesy smashburger (with mustard), and their Columbian coffee. From what I can tell, everything is very fresh, and the two sandwiches were carefully and skillfully prepared and wrapped. The two sandwiches, and coffee, and tip came to just over $20 and it was all worth every single penny. The breakfast sandwich: the fried egg is cooked just through, retaining a moistness and softness; it is sandwiched between two well-spiced, moist/juicy sausage patties that filled the lightly grilled Kaiser roll. The smashburger: the pattie filled the entire roll and was (in my opinion) perfectly cooked: cooked through, still juicy, no dryness; the generous cheese also filled the roll's diameter and was perfectly melted -- not running and dripping, but completely melted. Even the amount of mustard felt "calibrated" -- just enough to add a flavorful mustardy bite throughout the sandwich. A word on the buns: they gave a lot of thought to selecting their bread supplier (unless they're doing their own baking). The bun is the first thing you see, feel, and taste. These buns were bakery-fragrant and full; they had an almost delicate initial crunch, then a soft-and-chewy interior, and a final toasty crunch from the cut-side being - again - perfectly grilled. When you sink your teeth into the filling, you've been blessed a second time. The coffee was hot, full-bodied, flavorfull. These offerings show an attention to detail that is almost non-existent in the fast food chains; and rare in other restaurants that charge much more for much less. They open early and put...
Read moreCame across this cute and unique roadside cafe with outdoor seating. It offers walk up service and outdoor seating as well as car drive up service and trucker drive up service, which I never saw before. Very unique. Nice menu with choices to please all. We ordered the Breakfast platter and a Chicago egg sandwich. Both were very good and prepared fresh. Chicago egg sandwich was on a fresh Kaiser roll and made with peppers onions and cheese. It was a good size, filling and very delicious. The breakfast platter had eggs your way, sausage or bacon and came with pancakes. It was delicious and very good and filling. Prices are very reasonable and you get your money's worth. Easy access with ample drive up area and parking. Very friendly and kind service. Well worth a visit for good quality food .made fresh with excellent prices. They are open Tues thru Sunday and take all credit cards. Looking forward to trying more menu choices. Loved it....
