Party of 2. Were seated immediately. Wait staff was very warm.
Drinks: My wife ordered an unsweetened iced tea, with tons of sugar packets. She reported it was delicious. I ordered a long island iced tea, and it was very good, not the best i've had, but solid.
Apps: We ordered the vegetable spring rolls, and half a pint of house pickles, which is actually a side. The vegetable spring rolls were we're absolutely excellent, crunchy with a solid filling. Easily rivaled sit down chinese. It wasn't just a cabbage roll and damn good. The asian dipping sauce was a little hot for my wife, I found it to be delicious. But, to be honest, the rolls stood on their own. As for the pickles, my wife found them a little heavy on the vinegar. But again, I found them to be an excellent compliment to my main later on, and not only did I find them delicious. I appreciate that the kitchen takes the time to make them from scratch.
Mains: I inquired about the ostrich steak, as the size wasn't published. 5-6oz, I wanted to try it, but to be honest I was substantially more hungry then that. However, the pictures look good. In the future I might give it a go.
I ended up getting the 10 Gauge Winger "1 lb. chicken wings (choose your sauce) with 1/2 rack honey bourbon BBQ Pork spare ribs. Served with F.F & coleslaw"
I choose as is with the exception I wanted the wings naked with salt and pepper. This was easily accommodated but not an option on the menu. ? I was good, I found ribs to be a little plain. I was expecting a little bit more laquor ir some smoke. But they were still fall of the bone and enjoyable. The wings I found plump and delicious, when the menu stated bell & Evans, I like the flavor of there chicken. So with salt and pepper it was perfect for me, I can't comment on there wing sauces.
My wife got the Watch Tower Portobello, she really enjoyed it. As she's vegetarian she often reports pasta dishes as plain or one note, but this had a lot going on which she appreciated.
Dessert: We felt this place actually warranted Dessert which for us is rare. so we got it.
I got the new york cheesecake, which comes with a strawberry drizzle However I prefer it plain. It was very good, it tasted more on the sweet end like a junior's cheesecake, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
My wife got the Crème brulee and she thought it was excellent, she reported that the crust was not burned But just as it should be, and the custard was flavorful.
End thoughts. Overall, this restaurant really doesn't look like anything from the street. It doesn't have that antique charm on the outside like a lot of restaurants in jim thorpe. But its got lots of charm inside. The dining experience was extremely pleasurable. Needless to say we were both a little bit surprised that the dinner was that refined. Would definitely come back, plenty of options on the menu to explore.
Thank you for a wonderful dinner, the time and effort by your staff...
Read moreWe were really excited to go to this establishment! What a disappointment, when we walked in and were greeted by a bartender, who acted like he did not want to even be there. we sat at the bar and asked for a menu. He did not tell us about the specials. He came over and said what do you want? We told him we weren’t sure yet he seemed annoyed. I think it was the end of his shift he was waiting for the next bartender to come in, he mentioned he didn’t want to work a double he finally took our order for our drinks. He didn’t know how to make mine.I told him it was only 2 ingredients Really didn’t want to make a fuss but I did not like my drink. It was way too sweet. He kept asking us if we were ready to order and we weren’t. We wanted to look the menu over. We asked him what the vegetable of the day was? His answer was I don’t know some type of spinach I said wow, I love spinach he said I don’t know how to pronounce it. I asked him to find out he went into the kitchen and came back and still could not pronounce it. He said broccoli something I asked him again I thought you said it was spinach he said, I already told you! that was the red flag. We should have moved to a table. anyway, we were looking forward to a good meal. My husband ordered the $30 seafood combination comes with two sides. He does not like rice so he asked if he could have onion rings and stewed tomatoes rather than the vegetable of the day he said, yes, I still have the bill we were charged for the stewed tomatoes. I ordered the pub steak. I asked him if I could have a baked potato and the spinach side He said yeah yeah After it came out, I realized it was smashed broccoli, and some red pepper. The rice was brown and just warm. The vegetables were soft and mushy. The steak was OK. My husband seafood was OK. Everything was lukewarm. Thank God the new bartender came on. She was awesome very friendly, smiling and efficient. Needless to say being a former server and bartender, we did not leave him a tip, but we did give her a cash tip even though she just brought my husband one beer we explain to her what happened. We never got to speak to a manager. One of the waitresses told us that she did tell the manager what had happened ! We frequent this area a lot, and so do many of our friends We came back to the hotel and made sure we let them know I would not recommend Bonnie and Clydes to anyone You need a bartender who is friendly and efficient and knows how to pronounce the sides and be able to...

We walked in for dinner and were put on a waiting list. We were pretty hungry and noticed a spot for 2 people open up at the bar. We asked if we could sit at the bar and the hostess seemed to have an attitude about us asking that question.
She informed us with a slight attitude that no, we couldn’t just sit at the bar incase the people ahead of us wanted to be sat at the bar.
I thought this an odd practice. All the other bars and restaurants allow people to walk right in and sit at the bar if there are spots open regardless of wait times on tables.
I looked down at the wait list and noticed there were 3 parties ahead of us, and only 1 other party of 2. I wondered why should wouldn't just check with the party of 2 ahead of us if they wanted a bar spot before turning us away from that spot.
I tried to write it off as just an unusual business practice and a hostess that has had a bad day.
The waiting room gets cleared as time goes on and they seat the other parties ahead of us.
We are up next to be seated. I notice that the 2 spots at the bar that were open when we first walked in are still open, along with a few more spots now opened up at the bar. They start clearing 3 tables. I think, wow we really could have just sat at the bar but we should be seated soon with all the spots opened up.
A family of 3 walks in to the restaurant and ask for a table and gets seated right away while we are still sitting there waiting.
At this point I can confirm the treatment I have received was racial prejudice.
I can tell when someone is being racially prejudiced as a person of color that has lived in racially divided areas most of my life. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but in this case both me and my white boyfriend felt this was racially motivated since I was the only person of color in the establishment, got an attitude for asking a standard question, and received unequal treatment.
I can't help but feel upset while we sit there still being ignored in a restaurant now full of empty seating. I have to actually get up and go back to the hostess area and asked to be seated to finally be seated.
This restaurant does have some of my favorite food and desserts in the area. I drive 45 minutes from Hazleton to go here and recommend it to my friends and family. I sadly won't be coming back after feeling this micro aggressios from the staff this last few visits and the visits...
