I like Goldstar, and it might not be popular but I prefer it to Skyline. Both places have overcooked noodles but Goldstar is generally less overcooked and never mushy. They also have a wider variety of options than Skyline which I can appreciate. The burgers are pretty effing good too. Not the best but for a nonstandard fast food chain I'd say they're pretty great.
The garlic-parm fries are just okay and I was hoping for better. I'm also just really picky but I prefer fries tossed in garlic and herbs(no parm in general) since it is how we make them at home when we have fries. They use a pre-mix of some kind that is not bad by any means it just looks, and feels(?), like a creamy sauce they squirted over the fries. Meaning it isn't really anywhere but on top of them except where it may have dripped on the lower fries. Not bad but could be better.
The double deckers are pretty good. Really good actually, but they never toast the bread long enough. By which I mean the bread still feels mostly soft, and there are times I've had to toast the bread at home. That isn't something me, or you, or anyone else should have to do. It doesn't take that long to get a good toast on some white or wheat bread.
✌️
TL:DR 👇 If you are from Cincinnati or Dayton then you are already familiar enough with these two places, and others like them that are more local to some places. If you aren't from here, or Ohio as a whole, then you'd most likely encounter Skyline first. If you like them then you should...
Read moreFirst off as Cincy Westsider there is No Doubt I am All About some Cincinnati Chili (3, 4, 5 Ways & Coneys) and that of course is Predominantly Skyline but unlike many that are Hardcore One or the Other I am on Middle Ground because I do Love Skyline and living in Oxford it's the only option but I admit I am a Huge Goldstar Fan. Main difference is Goldstar is a Meatier Chili and let's be Real, Goldstar's Flavor is Addictive. Anyway I learned to compromise so when I have Skyline I get it "Dry" but I will Always jump at a chance to grab some Goldstar. Now regarding this particular Store I was on My way back to Oxford from F&S in Miamisburg (South Dayton) when coming thru Trenton I saw a Goldstar and without a second thought I found myself in the parking lot and since I was realizing I was fiending for Coneys I was ready to go. Now then the Food was Hot and Fresh so of course the Taste was Amazing but the Service was just as Amazing as the Food itself. The Waitress was Courteous and Cute with a Great Smile and the Manager was too damn Gracious coming to Check On the Customers not once but twice in the time I ate My 3 Cheese Coneys so the Customer Service made the Meal every bit of a 4 Star Experience and I'd recommend this Restaurant...
Read moreI ordered the 3 way spaghetti and sub it to vegetarian chili because I'm vegetarian. But I don't know why it came only just spaghetti without cheese. It mentioned to the description topped with more than a handful of shredded cheddar cheese it's not that even close what's in the menu picture compared of what I got just noodles and chili! At the same time the garlic parmesan french fries that I ordered they did not include as well! I ordered they dash door and this is my first time to order at Gold Star Chili. I was really excited when it arrived but when I opened the plastic bag and checked the the 3 way I'm super disappointed of what it looks like very far from the menu! Your menu are very craving and you guys have good reviews and this what happened. It's very...
