Came in approx 5:15 on Wednesday 5/11/2022. The employee at the counter seems frustrated I was dining in and had not ordered via the app or online. I then placed my order. I wanted a sandwich instead of tenders or wings. I personally do not care for ranch Mayo and asked if there was any way to possibly have BBQ sauce instead. I was flat out told no. I didn’t want or need a full cup like would be given for tenders, I only wanted a thin coat of it on my bun same as would have done instead of the ranch mayo. I also wanted to add bacon. That was not done either. I was absolutely an inconvenience to the store!!! I was meeting a friend who had arrived and ordered just prior to my arrival or else I would have gone elsewhere. I was not rude or yelling and I am very understanding so many places are short staffed. There were just a couple other guests in the dining area and drive thru was not swamped but a pretty steady flow of cars but not more than 2 waiting to have order taken. Then as I went to get my drink and join my friend - not sure if the floor were excessively greasy or if the residue of the floor cleaner but the floors where very slick. They were not wet, just very slick and I was wearing fairly new sneakers. The dining area wasn’t excessively dirty but I wouldn’t consider it clean either. This location isn’t new but also is not extremely old. It does not seem like anyone cares to keep it up on a regular basis. It has not aged well. As for my food. My bun was toasted well and still warm. The chicken was cooked properly, was crisp and warm. My fries were not crisp, they were warm and halfheartedly seasoned. Not enough to want to return soon. So the old standard of Quality, Service and Cleanliness- Quality was just above middle of the road, maybe. Service was horrible, honestly some McDonalds are better! Cleanliness - was pretty subpar Lastly not everyone wants to download every app for every business they do business at. I understand ordering online if a person is in a hurry and especially for carry out but businesses need to still attend to guests that desire to eat inside. I do have a smart phone like most people but I am not going to fill my screens and memory for every app especially when many places you can place on order from the website. I didn’t order via website because I...
Read moreEDIT 6-20-17 (down-voted to two stars from original 3): Contrary to my previous review ("..won't be going back.."), I decided to try another time, in hopes of improvement: SAME assessment as before. ANOTHER THING: BOTH times I was in there, employees DROPPED GLASS on the floor resulting in SHATTERED GLASS flying in all directions. This poses a serious hazard for everyone inside, especially small children (e.g. toddlers and babies in strollers etc.) who are in close proximity to the floor. As a glass engineer, I know that broken glass creates micro-shards of glass that can travel great distances (all over the restaurant, in this case). At no time did I see the owner come out and assist in the clean-up operations. Kansas State Board of Health should investigate this. Something else: so many positive reviews feature the same photographs: Replicate accounts???? (Are these yours, Owner?? --Yes, Mr./Mrs./Ms./it Owner, I'm addressing YOU. --and YOU know who YOU are.)
Original review: I rate this 3 stars mainly due to the cleanliness of the establishment and professional friendly service from the staff. Overall very disappointed with the food. As a former resident of Athens Georgia, I was looking forward to a chicken place in walking distance of my workplace on Rosehill Rd. that was similar to Raising Cane's or Popeye's. "Slim" barely even begins to describe the "food" here: tiny tenders, bland (or zero) seasoning, very thin coating of breading, bland fries, and the "Slim's Sauce" had very little taste either. I firmly do not believe I got my money's worth (and I ordered the "hungry plate" too). The tenders were tough, dry, and not crispy. Even grocery-store delis can cook crisp tenders that are still juicy inside but cooked sufficiently. Sadly, the only food really good here is the ice and drinks. I will NOT be going back. I wish we could rate the food separately: it would have earned even less than zero stars, since it leaves much to be desired...
Read moreI ordered the 6 wing dinner at the counter because the drive through was backed up and for some reason I thought it would be faster inside. I was very wrong. It took 35 minutes to finally get the take out. The receipt had the time I ordered and checked my phone when I got the order. When I got home and opened the bag, at least my order was right. It was best part of going to Slim Chicken. Chicken wings were all the joint sections not one drumette. I realize fries get limp as they cool but these were like noodles with salt poured over them. I live less than 2 miles away so expected them not to be hot but not limp and cold with far too much salt. If I had eaten there I would have taken them back. Slim chicken is a good name. The wings were the smallest I've ever been served and were like chicken skin jerky. The blue cheese dip for wings must be artificially flavored. To make sure it was blue cheese after sampling a taste with a spoon because it looked like ranch dressing, I put it through a strainer to check and two cups ,one I had to buy, had no blue cheese. It had a blue cheese taste, but no cheese. I'm not trying to be nasty about the food or service, it is just how it was with my order. Can't say how other people feel about the food but the long wait was the same for everyone and heard a couple people at table wondering if their order was forgot. I sat at a table to wait for my order, put my phone down and when I picked it up, it was covered with sticky mess. No wonder, nobody cleaned or wiped down tables the entire time I waited. It was easy to tell they need more help but that's up to Slim Chicken if they care...
