Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries — Restaurant in Lenoir

Y’all. I am so sorry to be leaving a bad review. The fact that I’m sitting here typing this up amazes me because I usually won’t take the time of day to do something like this.

#1 my husbands family told us the food is alright but it was crazy pricey #2 each time I drive by the business, I check it out and always notice the driver Thru line

This evening, my husband said he would like to try this place one time and I said “let’s go for it!”. Soooo. We are in the driver Thru. The line stayed long for a while but when we finally got our food, they handed us a single bag that felt super light weight. We asked the manager if that was the entire order. I looked back at my husband and the three people at the window trying to hand the bag back because no way was that tiny light weight bag all my family’s food. What bothers me is the manager looked us in the eyes and said “yes” that was everything. Feeling rushed, my husband moved us forward out of line and I checked the back. There was only 2/3 meals and all I could say is “I knew that wasn’t the order”.

Guys I’m so sorry for this review because y’all seemed to be working hard but why lie to my face? We were being looked at like idiots. And I’d say we would be idiots if we ever went back. I joked with my husband and said after we couldn’t stomach anymore, “babe, when we gonna go back?” He said, “are you serious?” Lol at least we could joke about throwing $40 away :(

Don’t get me started about my soggy burger, how minimal the fry container was and the flat price of meat they call hamburger. I’m so sorry but it upset me so much I just had to get on here.

We were passing through and needed a bite to eat while car shopping with 3 cranky littles. We stopped knowing they had burgers and that’s what my 3 kiddos are all about at the moment. The burgers we got were hot and fresh even the fries. I opened my chicken finger plate and the did not look very appetizing. My husband pulled over and let me run them inside. The manager quickly started to make things right. I requested just a burger since I had already seen they were fresh and appetizing. The manager came around the corner with my order. He had not only made a hot fresh cheeseburger with the toppings of my choice but had also made a fresh batch of chicken tenders that were INCREDIBLE. Probably the best I’ve ever had honestly. And that’s not it…he also handed me a gift card. I was left speechless. I have never experienced such amazing customer service. I would have been happy with just the burger. But he truly went the extra mile and it was the highlight of my unsuccessful day of car shopping in the pouring rain. Oh and the kids meals are so adorable, fun and interactive!! Perfect for food on the go. They played with those cardboard cars all day! And the honey mustard…I’m now on the search for dukes honey mustard because it is the best!!! This place is amazing and they’ve earned my business anytime...

Updated review: after a not so good experience several months ago we decided to try Hwy55 again dining in. This time food was prepared correctly, concretes and milkshakes were great. Be sure to remind them to add your whipped cream to your concretes and shakes. Service can be slow. If you go close to closing time like an hour or two before service is even slower.

Original review: What a fun place to eat! They actually wait on you and then a robot serves your food, which is so cool. Good selection of items, everything was served fast and at the right temperature. The shakes and custard are delicious when they’re fixed right (we go through the drive thru for frozen custard every so often and usually it’s made like a milkshake and not the frozen custard).
