Restaurants of lesser reputation then Cafe Boulud at Blantyre have been faster and more generous in responding to an error in their service to a customer.
In January 2021 my wife made a reservation for dinner at the café requesting a specific ceiling location and notifying the staff that it was in celebration of my birthday. At the same time, a friend worked with the café staff to select a bottle of champagne which he purchased and asked to be delivered to my table in his name as a gift. When we arrived we were seated in an area different than our original request. A glass of champagne was delivered to the table but at no time where we notified that the Bottle was a gift from my friend and his wife. At the conclusion of our dinner we were presented with a plate of cookies labeled “happy anniversary“.
Shortly after I received call from my friend asking sheepishly if we had ever received a bottle of champagne at our dinner at Café Boulud. . I was embarrassed to tell him that we had received champagne but were never notified it was a gift or from them. I was embarrassed and felt badly for him.
I spoke to the restaurant manager twice and provided him with my friends contact information. He assured me he would be in touch with my friend and then back to me with an an offer of how they could rectify the situation. Neither of us ever heard from this individual.
In May of this year I sent a complaint to the hotel and received a call from the general manager. The general manager spoke to me and then to my friend offering apology and suggesting that the next time we have wanted to come we should notify him and he will “Make this right for us.” Recently my friend reached out to him to make reservations for his anniversary and for one other date. Three weeks later he has not heard back from the café or the general manager. Needless to say this is extremely poor customer service reflecting a degree of arrogance on the part of the of the hotel in their restaurant staff. We were extremely...
Read moreThe food is fantastic and the location is private and decadently decorated. The shame is that they are closing for 1 year for renovations. My wife and I enjoyed a date here and it was our second time. The food is so beautiful it is almost a shame to eat it. The multi course meal option I feel is the only way to dine. you have a choice of appetizer as well as an entrée, followed by a dessert and this is what dinner should be everywhere. There is no limitation to what you can choose in the price is the same across the board. I got a beautiful tuna tartare and my wife got a goat cheese beet salad. It was beautiful and we both got amazing entrées in the filet and duck pate linguine. We got a dessert soufflé and homemade cheesecake that were to die for. Once they re-open in a year we will certainly return!
We also enjoyed a nice glass of wine and after dinner cocktail in the lounge to sit by the fire and chatted with a great couple for quite some time. Great atmosphere and we will...
Read moreWe had dinner at Cafe Boulud as we were staying at Blantyre. Overall, while it certainly was a shame on Daniel Boulud's reputation (relative to Daniel in NYC, for example), it was not bad. The three course prix fixe is fairly reasonably priced (at $84), the drinks were good (but very expensive at $19) and the service was generally good as well. The restaurant was extremely dark, which we did not like. Mood lighting is wonderful, but darkness is something...
