My wife and friends have been to The Ostrich Room several times in last six months. Always good reviews, especially the craft cocktails. It was my turn to try The Ostrich Room. We went on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Sadly, there wasn't much good about it, but more specifically:
No craft cocktails. I understand it might be because many of the entitled New Yorkers are gone, but how about us locals? Aren't we worthy? Additionally, the regular bartender wasn't there and sadly, the drinks we had (Mojito and Vodka/Tonic), were not cold with very little ice and the mojito was sour. The mojito does call for simple syrup. I originally wanted a Bloody Mary, but no mix was available. I then asked for a Belvedere and tonic. Both times, the server came back to us and said there is no Belvedere. Not good.
My wife ordered the "Airline Chicken" and I ordered the Burger, medium rare and the grilled Caeser. The salad was good. My wife asked which parts of the chicken are cooked for the Airline Chicken. My wife said she prefers dark and the server said yes, it was dark meat, but it came out as a chicken breast and wing section. In a setting like this, she should know. It's a management responsibility to train the servers to know.
Little did we know the chicken would taste like airline food. It was also breast meat and overcooked. My wife ate most of it grudgingly because she was very hungry. Yes, she shouldn't have settled. The server apologized and didn't really know how to handle this. Not good training. My burger came in well done. Surprisingly, it tasted ok and I ate it.
I am not looking for a free meal, but the chicken should have been taken off the bill. Very disappointed in the manager for not doing this. That would have been the professional thing to do.
I am willing to give The Ostrich Room another chance. I hope the management can consider my critiques and make...
Read moreWe are from out of state visiting family who live in the area of this restaurant. We asked for sweet tea and were told by our waitress they didn’t serve that. Fine, something else was ordered to to drink. My husband ordered the Louis Burger and asked for it to be cooked well done. Our waitress informed us we couldn’t get anything cooked well done because the chef didn’t cook any of the meats well done. My husband didn’t want an undercooked hamburger so he asked for a vegetable plate of whatever vegetables they were serving. Our waitress had to go ask the chef is she would make him a vegetable plate and the chef said no. He ended up getting the Salmon Croquettes which were mediocre. This restaurant is overpriced and the menu selections are too few. I ordered the Filet Mignon (I wanted it to be well done but at this point we know the chef won’t cook it the way I want it) and asked the waitress to tell the chef to get it as done as she could or would. The chef butterflied the filet and got it well done but this steak had no seasoning at all and therefore no flavor. Warning: If you try to deviate from this chefs small repertoire of menu items or preparation of menu items you will be...
Read moreThe bartender was grumpy, I asked to add tequila to a mocktail option & he made me a vodka mule. When I spoke up about how this is not what I asked for he explained “that’s what a mule is” but I didn’t ask for a mule. I asked for the mocktail that has ginger beer, lemongrass and blood orange, my cocktail had only the ginger beer. He “remade” it with tequila, and it was again just tequila and ginger beer, his attitude was the problem. Would return if a different bartender was working, other staff seemed pleasant.

Thank you for your response. I would add that there was only one other person at the bar, a very small bar, with few seats. I even witnessed the bartender go on break, so perhaps he was having a bad day. Surely the restaurant being busy is no reason to have a sour affect & dismissive behavior towards customers. We would have stayed longer, spent more money & left larger tip, had he been polite. But we left due to the rudeness, specifically. So there are some areas to...
